After the release of the 1st part, the idea of continuing the story of Thomas, a member of the Resistance, who found himself on the territory of the war scorched lands.

Blasted Lands left many questions that players wanted answers to: "Who is Thomas?", "Why did we wake up in an abandoned city?", "What data did we transmit at the end?", "Where did the soldiers come from and why are they hunting for the protagonist?". All these questions will be answered by the sequel.

The continuation of the modification preserves and multiplies the oppressive atmosphere of the original. The emphasis, as in the last part, was made on the demonstration of the world beyond the locations shown in the original Half-Life games.

In the process of development the artificial intelligence of the enemies was improved and sometimes rewritten, new gameplay features were added, as well as the visual style was improved with new models, textures and animations.

Сразу после выхода 1й части возникла идея о продолжении истории Томаса, члена Сопротивления, который оказался на территории выжженных войной земель.

Blasted Lands оставил множество вопросов, на которые игроки хотели получить ответы: «Кто такой Томас?», «Почему мы очнулись в заброшенном городе?», «Что за данные мы передали в конце?», «Откуда взялись солдаты и почему охотятся за главным героем?». На все эти вопросы сиквел даст ответы.

Продолжение модификации сохраняет и преумножает гнетущую атмосферу оригинала. Акцент, как и в прошлой части, был сделан на демонстрацию мира за пределами локаций, показанных в оригинальных играх серии Half-Life.

В процессе разработки был улучшен, а где-то и переписан искусственный интеллект противников, добавлены новые геймплейные особенности, а так же улучшен визуальный стиль с помощью новых моделей, текстур и анимаций.
