Tiberian Odyssey BETA 1.0 preview trailer is now up!

Posted by Morpher on Aug 27th, 2010

I've never tried to make a trailer for anything before, this is my first attempt and I hope besides a few graphical bugs and it not being 100% perfect that it's still entertaining! Shown is:

  • A ravaged Tiberium area infested with Crawlers, Fiends and Visceroids.
  • GDI Coastal Assualt.
  • Nod Genesis Missile Tests.
  • Nod Base Assualt.
  • Naval Engagement.
  • Tiberium area Clean-up.
  • Basic Skirmish setup.

Really nice work on the trailer...

I'm looking forward to see the naval fights..

It's still odd that things like the Missle hover unit are looking larger than your boats..

Same goes to your NOD Refinery.. It looks like the Harvester is bigger than the building itself.. I also miss animations on some of the buildings there it's a bit boring. You know lights little fans rotating etc.

The hover MLRS is large in comparison to the boats because the game uses tiles, and all the units need to fit, vaguely, into their own tile - this means that scale is impossible to correctly do.

On the other hand, we've made an effort to make land units sizes similar to one another, and naval units scales similar to one another. Apart from that, not much that can be done.

Animations - lights and little fans... Yeah, you're right, we could do with some of those.

Scale is always an issue in this game.. the naval units unfortunately can't be as big as we want them to be as every unit will only ever take up one cell each. And the buildings will have much more life when we get round to additional animations, right now we have the basics for some and completely finished material for others.

I just played through TibSun+Firestorm again and the visual changes you have made from the original game looks amazing.

Oh and I've been crawling around on your forum for a couple years following the mod.

Thanks for the comment! And yeah, it surprises me when I compare the current buildings and images we have to the originals, it makes me appreciate the work a lot more!
