Annie is back!

Somewhere in 2012 I decided to abandon work on my Doom 2 project called Annie. The reason behind this was that I've only ever made maps for Doom and Doom 2 and I really wanted to explore other, more advanced engines. And so I did. I made maps for Hexen II, Quake, Quake II and Unreal. Annie never left my mind, however. Now, in 2018, it's finally time to pick up the pieces and finish this!

GZDoom is still the engine of choice!

I always liked this engine because it's very easy to implement all these great features that really give a different feel to Doom II maps. The core gameplay however will remain largely the same. No dialogues or RPG-systems, just plain hardcore shooter action!

Features:

  • 16 detailed new levels, divided into 4 distinct episodes;
  • new monsters;
  • new textures;
  • new graphics;
  • new sounds;
  • new music;
  • special GZDoom features like fog, slopes, 3D-floors, etc.

What is the current status?

There's already lots of progress being made but there's also much that still needs to be done. Right now, I'm working on A1M3 and in just two weeks time, I managed to complete about 70% of the total map. Once the first four levels are completed, episode 1 will be released to the public. I will keep this mod page updated with important information but if you like to follow the progress more frequently, you can do so here:

Is there something playable?

Sure! I uploaded the original demo version of Doom II: Annie so go check it out and see what it's all about! The demo contains the first map of episode 1 so you will get a very good idea about what episode 1 has in store for you. Enjoy!

There will be new monsters so you won't be able to brutally kill them :) I'm not that good with sprites unfortunately. Technically it might be possible to run it with Brutal Doom.

With new monsters, you could try playing it under Ketchup, a lite version of Brutal Doom.
