Post news Report RSS A Quick Update - We're Still Here!

With the announcement of Nemesis and the release of Sins v1.9, we're here to let you know that support for the mod is continuing.

Greetings all,

Well, it looks like we managed to make a Star Trek vs Star Wars post without the world coming to an end. Thank **** we managed to wrestle Bane away from his keyboard before he could throw Warhammer 40K into the mix, too. You don't want to prod the Emperor's faithful - they're all kinds of crazy.

Now, on to business!

First of all, and probably most importantly, many of you are no doubt already aware that Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion recently underwent an update to v1.9. You should be able to play your mods as normal, but keep in mind a key difference to this version of Sins is that it does NOT require you to activate Large Address Aware. The effects granted by LAA are now an integral part of Sins, so you should be able to play all your mods with much more convenience. Hooray!

Just to be clear, you DO NOT need to apply LAA to Sins any longer. Go forth, my children, and LAA no more.

I'd also like to reassure our players that support for this mod is ongoing. Many of you have asked us about when the 1.1 update for The Final Frontier will be released. While I answer that, I'm going to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about our upcoming TFF spinoff project, Nemesis.

E1NoTNd

While there are obviously some issues with The Final Frontier that we're comntinuing to work on, we were (and still are) very happy with and proud of what we achieved with TFF - perhaps the largest and one of the most ambitious mods for Sins of a Solar Empire in existence. When we sat back, took a breather and started getting feedback from players, however, besides the expected issues we came to see that we had made something of an oversight. The Final Frontier is all about immense maps, vast diversity, and providing players with a sense of grandeur and discovery (at least as far as the Sins engine would allow). And it worked, but all that scale meant that gameplay inevitably became slower and more strategic in nature, perhaps at the expense of players who prefer faster, more tactical gameplay.

Nemesis is being designed around the ideal of fast-paced, tactical matches, with our focus being on multiplayer (though single player will still work fine). If frenetic combat, micro-managing your fleets and resources, seizing immediate advantages and choke points, and engaging your friends and rivals in a match where the tables turn from minute to minute are ideals that interest you, you're going to want to keep an eye on Nemesis. This isn't going to be just a smaller TFF - Nemesis will have its own flavour and cater to those looking for a different kind of Armada 3 experience.

"Get to the point, Orion! What does this have to do with the 1.1 update!?" Simply, Nemesis is going to need as solid a foundation as possible and for that, we need to iron out the kinks still present in The Final Frontier. You've all been very patient so far, and while I still can't give a firm release date (you know us, we like to be mysterious), know that TFF 1.1 and Nemesis will likely be released in very close proximity to each other. In fact, from here on progress updates for Nemesis should also be applied to TFF 1.1, and vice versa.

Thanks for sticking with us. As always, we appreciate your support and your feedback. It really helps us out a lot.

Til next time, stay classy. Or don't.

So are you gonna add the Terrans into the game? i know there isn't a big difference between them and the Federation but it would just seem cool to have Terran ships with there markings and colorations against the normal Federation

Is it possible to limit a release date of TFF 1.1?

As you probably know, we work in mysterious ways :D We don't really like to give release dates since we're not sure if we can hold them, but it should come out pretty close to nemesis since a lot of the fixes for 1.1 will be needed to make nemesis work.

Does the mod not load?

Does the game crash on launch?

Etc etc.

Hi,

Will the next update change the icons back to what they originally were? Just looked at the comments for the addon and apparently it no longer works?

Cheers.
