Modern Warfare Mod brings World in Conflict from the Cold War into the Modern Age. It also ups the ante on realism and authenticity in every role – Infantry, Armor, Support and Air, while trying our best to keep everything relatively balanced for fun and interesting gameplay.

No matter how boring this looks to public eyes, I still find it fascinating to read since I'm an Engineer major myself, which relates alot to my interest :)

+1: It's amazing to see the magic behind the scenes of a video game.

Let me see if I can explain how this code works (in terms of trying to simulate in a bit of realistic manner).

The radar sends out an electronic pulse, called the Search Beam in a sweeping pattern (so it scans from left to right along 110 degrees sector azimuth from unit's turret facing). This is what happens first on the left side of the diagram where it says "Low Static PRF Search Beam".

As the radar detects airborne objects in the search beams it had sent out, the range gate-- an electronic detection device within the radar system-- calculates an area in the air space where the radar should next look for it. It does so by calculating the target's velocity vector information as received from doppler-shift effect, and predicting the target's movement.

The range gate filters out all other airborne objects and only focuses on the targets inside its calculated area, this allows the radar to process only the needed information to update the target's movement and continue to maintain track of its movement. This happens on the right side of the diagram where it says "Range Gated PRF".

As the range gates are placed along the air space and targets are repeatedly being hit inside the range gate, we can confirm whether the target is a ballistic missile, cruise missile, helicopter, etc, based on its flight pattern and velocity data.

Mmm, flowcharting. I have to admit, it does get messy when you start having to think in terms of asynchronous processing though.

Actually to think that automation was brought in b/c non iads sam couldnt intercept the cruise missiles in earlier builds. And helicopters were quite overpowered.
Now we have massive and powerfull iads software, yet it still cant power through competent missile spam. Which is a shame really.

Well the inability for IADS to deal with all missiles in most cases is due to insufficient ammo or not enough launch stations being online.

While the automation is great, and this probably makes it one of the most well conceived SAM in any games (with exception of simulation games) in existence, there is one major flaw. There are 16-24 incoming cruise missiles, and the SAM site only has 8 launchers to commit missiles. The software had not been programmed to think about that :)

That's when human player comes in with his pro-SAM commander skill. So it depends on support player's skills to defeat competent missile spam.

well sure thing XD.
so i think in the end we would have tor properly integrated.
btw is it possible to change ru team sam concept (for the future)
and have tor as point cpgm defence (highly capable sam system with full iads integration ect) and tungustka as the support spagm/sam (so you make it dual chanel in a sense of wic homing shooter missiles (maybe flint?) and predictor guns being on the primary shooter with ammo) instead of shilka? (as shilka isnt in the aa role anymore, although sometimes it is used as direct support weapon in mountains/cities due to good angles of elevation and rapid fire canons)
although getting iads down to the mobile sam units will be nice (as to the strela/tungustkas on the move).

also later you can shift to the sam batery concept (where you have a cp/radar unit to provide iads datalink and 6 shorad (strela/tungustka) units in a squad, for tor - 4 units.
