Report RSS White Night is Now on Steam Workshop

After 12 years, White Night is now on Steam Workshop and a fully isolated total conversion.

Hi all,

I know it feels weird, believe me.
After 12 years, getting back to White Night, posting an update, and among other things, finding it being still relevant. I also know I should've got back to it and update it for:

  1. Isolated Full Conversion, meaning it should've been under one folder
  2. Update it to comply with Amnesia: The Dark Descent v1.3 update

White Night can be played through Custom Story menu with new Steam Workshop update!

Well, before further ado, it is updated and it's available at Steam Workshop.

However, I thought White Night to be a closed chapter for me, until Frictional Games announced Custom Story support for Steam Workshop. This inspired me to get White Night into an isolated full conversion first, and then upload it. However I quickly realized that it was only for "custom stories" and not for total conversions.

Then Luis from Frictional Games e-mailed me about "Total Conversion" support; and thanks to him, I was able to do some updates to White Night and made it comply with the new Steam Workshop Total Conversion Support.

While I was at it, I made the relevant adjustments to make White Night to work with v1.3 update for Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and finally the v1.5 update which brought the total conversion support from Steam Workshop.

So, if you have Amnesia: The Dark Descent on Steam, head over the Steam Workshop page of White Night and give it a try, if you haven't already in these past 12 years.

If you don't want to use Steam, or don't have Amnesia: The Dark Descent on Steam, fret not!
I've updated the package here.

Just download it and open the zip file, then put the White Night folder next to Amnesia.exe and open the White Night.bat file inside the folder.

And oh, I've pushed White Night's latest version to GitHub, too. I don't know if it is any use to any of you at all, but still, it's also there.

I really miss the journey throughout the development of White Night here with you all, and I sincerely thank you for being here with me until the end. I've never experienced such a thing since that time, so when I say thank you, I mean it. Getting back to White Night has been refreshing for me.

I know White Night barely holds up at today's standards and how much the modding and gaming community had progressed, but it has a sentimental value for me and for those who played it at its release.

In the future, I'll get back and address this issue. White Night requires a whole restructuring and a standalone approach to its storytelling and mechanics.

Personally, I'd like to do some shameless self promotion and tell you that if you're interested what I've been doing during these 12 years, or now, please follow me at Twitter, YouTube, or anywhere you can find me; so you can get some updates about my other projects, like my concept of Amnesia: The Dark Descent Remake, which is about to get a whole new update to its visuals and performance improvements, and hopefully second level of the game.

Until next time!
