Say hello to the first news post - so what's happening with WKL (Warrior Kings Launcher)? I'm moving it from Java to C++, this means you shouldn't need any plugins to run WKL - good eh? I have also decided to split this project into two - the Launcher and the Dev Tools. I'll be working on a mod/patch when WKL is working - the Community Patch.
I'll be adding some new improvements and features - with WKL you will have the ability to enable and disable mods and maps along with fixing the directx fails to initialize bug and receive automatic updates. You will also be able to increase the population limit in saves. I am working on a new gui that is easier to use.
I really need to know what bugs people are experiencing with Warrior Kings + Battles. I currently know two and have experienced both - when all peasants freeze and directx fails to initialize.
So what about the map editor and all?
There has been a bit of rumor about the map editor being left in the game but I can find nothing so will be planning on making my own after WKL is working. It will be included with the dev tools along with a archive browser and the modding tools.
"Make it open source!"
Sure, don't worry - I'll get round to it one day! Most likely I'll put it on GitHub.
I need help from you Warrior Kings Fans!
To help promote the small community on Steam I need some good pics from either your greatest battles or just some good screenshots. I also need suggestions! What would you like to see in the first Community Patch?
The first mod for warrior kings. I hope for it to take away the broken gamespy online mode, allow selection of more resolutions ingame and add support for downloading of custom maps/mods by joining a server. If I get a VPS I might try and replace the gamespy online mode with a working one but that might be too difficult.
The first release is pretty far off as I have many other projects ongoing aswell. I make no promises all my goals will be met but I sure hope so.
A happy new year from the Warrior Kings Community. Please come join us at Steam and spread the word!
