It is fascinating and surprising to see how often a 13 year old campaign is downloaded that is much better gamed through when in embedded in its original environment providing ingame video. While the campaign is very well done the mod provides many additions that are totally unused by CARVER V.

There is a reason people are still downloading a 13 year old campaign. The work and love you put into it still shines through making a good game into a great game with countless more hours of fun to be had. Just wanna say thank you for all the sick days made a little less bad from Wolfman-x MC2 playthroughs :)

hello there. tell me please is it possible to make to work the pre-mission videos vith a colonel and minivids with leutenant Diaz and other characters? this is very important part of canpaign atmosphere i think. i see files with them in game directories but dont know how to make it by myself.

Microsoft used third party video player in MC2 (Bink Movie).
This is not freeware and thus important code was taken out of the released source code or deactivated. No mod based on source code release plays embedded videos.

Use the original MC2 CD to play through MC2 with video.

Might be right, but you are using the second release then (where the Bink code bits have been replaced by AVI).
I have the first release if you want it.

I just started on this and I have an issue.
When I move the mouse over the support icons (where you call in airstrike, salvage crew, etc.), there's a clicking sound continuously.
Could this be fixed?
Pretty annoying.

Also, having the Logistics screens in HD would be great.
Can you do anything for this?
I don't mind pixelation (can be fixed with AA or better textures), but I dislike resolution switches.

I like to look at the code you mentioned but never heard about two releases; remains to be confirmed by comparing it.

Click is intentional and will stay. It is only continous if you do nothing but stay on the button.

I will not invest into a revised logistic screen; it is more value and fun to create missions or implement features.

Repair truck issues:
- While having the repair truck selected, I can't issue a repair order directly on a damaged mech - I have to click the repair button first, and then the mech. This really is a huge step back, please reinstate the MC2 functionality.
- Repair truck won't go around and repair idle mechs automatically - this is something I would have expected from a modern mod. Please consider adding it.

Autocannon projectiles are very slow (using Rotary AC at the moment, really nice touch!); these AC projectiles move rocket-like as if they were not from a ballistic weapon at all.
I have not tried Gauss and railgun yet (which I'd be even faster), I hope those are okay at least.

I just finished the first Carver V mission.
Two issues:
- I am missing a bunch of pilot specialties. Sensor specialist and survivalist (dunno what was it called, the one that allows a pilot to withstand more damage).
- I seem to have lost the Bushwacker variants (the one I built) and the ones that were there before the mission. The mech is configured and named correctly, but when I select a Prime, I can't select any other configuration for it than the 'Prime' anymore.

Repair button is on purpose; more logic to me.

Automatic repair is possible by script but I do not like it.
Repairs are an activity that needs the right place and time. Automatic repairs is not always beneficial (too lazy to be realy good).

I can look one day at the projectile speeds.

Carver V was implemented with everything like it was in the original release. The mech definitions have changed over the years and revisions a bit; maybe this is why you see a difference. Will not change anything; differences are not really important. I did not change the specialties.

What about the Bushwacker variants being there before mission one but being gone after that very mission (while having a mech with a variant that's gone)?

One mission two, a cargo truck captured a turrent control, lol
I thought only mechs can capture buildings.
A cargo truck is not even a military unit...

In MC2X any player unit beside camera drones can capture enemy objects. The campaign is transferred into a new gaming environment thus some stuff feels different despite no changes to the campaign missions.

I wonder why you always look for deviations towards the original campaign in mods. The mod is not made for this old campaign. Play the original campaign from your CD with video and all the correct mechs and behaviour and do not use MC2X if you have/see no use and value in it.

Or you can use your (never seen before)first source code release and create your own mod.

So just to make sure, this is a Standalone download right? And if I have the original version of the game installed via my original CD, would that interfere with this version? I can't get the blasted original version to actually start up. It installed just fine, but apparently Windows 10 plays hell with older games haha.

Anyway, just wanted to make sure that wouldn't interfere with this d/L. :)

Never mix any files from MC2X with any other MC2 mod nor the original MC2. The source code is changed dramatically and limits are shifted thus it will crash or create error messages or not work correctly as a result of mixing it.
You can have it on same PC but not in same folders.

Since this is the only relatively active mod for this game on this site, I thought I'd ask here. This is apparently a common issue, but I haven't found a fix. I'm running Windows 7, and when I open the game, the process starts - I see it in the task manager - but it only stays open for a few moments before closing itself. I've tried everything I can think of, but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this? Or is this childhood gem lost to me forever?

Common issue for what?
Are you referring to MC2X or MC2 or MCO?
Your initial statement makes it unclear what you are posting about.
Please clarify.

I do apologise. It's MC2, and the issue is that the game fails to launch properly. Looking through forums and Microsoft help services, I can find a lot of complaints but not many solutions.

Is there a fix for weapons not firing until ALL can fire? I constantly have my guys with long range weapons holding fire with those until their shortest-range weapon is in range, and then they open fire with all of them. It's REALLY annoying when they are mechs like the Catapault, which is almost all LRM's but wont fire anything until it can also get it's small lasers to fire.

Is there a easy way to add the new weapons to the Carver 5 campaign? I know it ruins the balance... but sometimes I just want to set things to hard and out tech the AI for fun.

I have no clue as to how the modding works so I understand if it has to be done on a map to map basis and is to time consuming or difficult. If however there a text file I could alter, file I could replace, or something like that I would love to run through Carver again with advanced tech.

There are plenty of other campaigns using power weapons and I like to respect the great work of the CARVER V designers. I did not change anything unless absolutely neccessary to make it run on MC2X.

Wolfman....Thanks for your remake of the Carver V campaign. I have enjoyed replaying and look forward to downloading your other campaigns. One thing that I have noticed is that the pilot's piloting and sensor ratings increase during the campaign, but the gunnery rating does not. I reinstalled the download in a fresh folder (always keeping them separate...I already have R36 downloaded), but the gunnery rating stays the same. I have looked through your forums, but have not found anything on this. Thanks....Doc

These things have been changed over the years with my MC2X revisions. I did not turn the clock back to 'CARVER V release time' on those.

Thanks for your reply. It does make the game more challenging (as does the improved AI) and that has prompted me to experiment with using different tactics and mechs on the harder modes. I have also found that the pilots get injured more easily and the purchasing system is far better than the original mechanic. Looking forward to playing warlords soon. Thanks again...Doc

hello sorry already added a atupid question but before the fist mission i can buy the first two mechtypes bushwacker and firestarter {no new mechs)and can buy your modified equipment ! want to use your mechsand eqqipmwnt ! but with ending of the first mission everything turns back to normal ! any way to buy your mechs in the carver V campaign ?
