Warcraft Total War is a total conversion mod for Medieval II Total War. Our goal is to bring the Warcraft universe into a Total War game. This mod will feature epic battles with units from the Warcraft universe and a new campaign that will cover the events of the Third War and beyond.

Report RSS Eoghan Wolfkin's unfinished Warcraft: TW Alpha!

The unfinished Warcraft Total War Alpha released in the Azeroth Total War TWC-thread back in march the 29 at Total War Center. It has a few High Elven, Dwarf, Scourge (i think) and Ogre units plus the full Warcraft 1 themed Human rosters for Theramore, Stormwind, Lordaeron and the full Horde-roster. Be advised there are some heroes available in the folder as well as some other files. This mod has only a very unbalanced custom battle-mode - the campaign is there but isn't playable.

Edit:

- A custom Locations.txt-file has been uploaded today august 26 2017 - it will fix the issue with water-battlefields for most of the custom battle maps.

Place in mods/WTW/data and replace the file already there - credit to WarcraftHero who fixed this file.

Eoghan Wolfkin, on march the 29th:

"I have some very good news for you lot! I actually tried to work on creating an alpha for a warcraft mod last year in my spare time using as much spare content, and a fair bit of my own work. Gave up on it because of my rampant procrastination problem which has me constantly stopping and starting things. Anyway, will try to upload it on this page by the end of the day. It's not finished, and frankly I think you could gut the good bits you want to keep, and merge them into your mod.

Was trying to make a First War alpha so the rosters of these factions reflect that.

What I've got in my mod:

Human units (Enough to fill up a faction. Finished Stormwind and Lordaeron).

Orc Units (that actually look like orcs from WoW)

Magic units

Faction UIs (I found in one of the old threads. Edited the Scourge/Burning Legion one)

Music (Found again)

Some Ogre and Troll units

Goblin units (Some artillery) (Was going to make them mercenary/rebels unit only)

Some dwarf units

Some High elven units

Some portraits (Orc and Human) (Human more complete)

Some Custom Models for generals (Blackhand,Orgrim,Cho'gall,Kilrogg,LLane Wrynn,Khadgar,Lothar,Medivh)

Some mob units (Slime, Bandits)

Gonna try and post some images in a minute.
What I didn't finish you'll be able to see soon enough. But, either way, I hope you enjoy.

Also, there are some glitches when it comes to the footman units. Got a weird gltich involving some armour stretching across the battlefield, that I never found the time to look into."

As the mod is available at TWC in the Azeroth thread i figured it should be uploaded here before people start to post links everywhere.

A resource for Warcraft-mods - but also a possibility to test the most early mod that our team had when we started out in march. Eoghan did all of this in 2015 and 2016 himself.

"The "Warcraft" logo, the characters, races, places, names, story and background are Blizzard property, the mod is in no way tied with the company, this mod is only a free fan-made project with no profit involved.

Eoghan Wolfkin's unfinished alpha is not an attempt at a "World of Warcraft: Total War", as written by the gaming media - it was an attempt for a Warcraft One (First War) Total War."

I would recommend a forum to report bugs on, as I found one that's pretty funny (or annoying depending on who you ask) regarding some stretchy textures with Lothar's Lions.

And I must say Stormwind makes money like there's no tomorrow. Might want to nerf that just a tad.

(Yes, I am that random modeller, over the past few months a lot of life stuff has come up and I've only been able to check this every so often, sorry about that.)

Edit: It seems tabbing in and out fixes the stretchy textures bug, and the money thing was just the blessing of having a load of towns without soldiers in them. Whoops.

The released demo is not our current WIP.

It was released because somebody may want to take it over and work on finishing a Warcraft One: Total War.

Our project is Warcraft 3: Total War, and it's come far since march.

I see. I am enjoying it overall, except Varian's odd looking portrait (it's one of the default ones and I can't help but laugh every time I got to use him.)

Looking forward to the Warcraft 3 mod.

Thanks, yes it will be awesome even though it will probably be a sandbox campaign without any story at first. But the alliances will be in place (are already) and it will also include Frozen Throne factions.

I don't mind if it's a sandbox campaign, I'll take Stormwind and conquer the world. I'm not a lore nerd, it's Total War, I pick my favourite faction and roll with whatever pops up.

However, a note, check every area of the map for crashes when trying to initiate a confrontation. This version seems to absolutely despise Deadwind Pass/Karazhan. I can't even get to the retreat/attack screen without it crashing. Makes it even more of a pain than a random crash because autosaves make them a mere hiccup in gameplay. You can just load back up and play on. If it's a problem with Deadwind Pass/The Horde (gonna guess it's the former considering I fought them next to Stormwind with no issues) that keeps occurring I'd recommend to look into it because people can't progress with it. When the WC III mod is released, I'll check around to see if any issues like this come up.

We know about these issues.

In the WC3 mod the Burning Legion was supposed to start close to Kharazhan at the Dark Portal. That whole region were CTD:ing - however, it may have had to do with certain factions in that region fighting.

I did test all the playable factions in our WC3 alpha and while Stormwind could fight the Legion elsewhere, it couldn't at that settlement. And i think other factions could fight there but not sure.

So probably was an issue with the map. I've gotten around it by moving the Legion for now.

I see. Hopefully the issue's fixing goes smoothly, I'll just push northward and take out the Horde by going through Badlands to the Swamp of Sorrows*

Unless you're keeping the fighting in Karazhan to the outside, it probably will be really awkward, could be a texture issue causing crashing but regardless, the Horde were the faction I was trying to fight, so it's not just the Legion.

*-Never trust me to give directions.

Oh, and it crashes every other turn (this is a new issue, only started when I was playing today). Autosave does save me from having to save near constantly, and I save after battles to avoid having to redo them, but it's just a bit annoying.

Then again, it's Alpha. Can't expect everything... then again, the solid chrome dwarves are quite the spectacle.

Edit: And now it won't progress my turns at all.

The campaign isn't supposed to be played in the released alpha. What matters is if it crashes in our WIP and i think it's pretty stable - but still had to move factions out of that region.

Very well, I'll wait until the WIP/Alpha/Beta/Whatever is released. Was enjoying this while it lasted, heh.

It`s only custom battle, not campaign map?

Campaign is there, but not nearly playable. It's more like the map is there plus some work done to it. Don't expect it to work for long.
