It's a been a week since the first ever news article on our moddb page and not even two weeks into the project and here we are, a second update and boy is there some eye-candy for you!

Warcraft IV Taylor, Edit

The team has been busy yet again, I won't bore you with the formalities, I'm sure your here for a peek at our progress and we shan't disappoint!

First of all, what's new? Well the logo heading this week's article was designed by none other than our brilliant Taylor_Mouse who had a bit of free time after finishing his base orc model, shown below.

It looks fantastic, as you can see he has fleshed out the body, making it slightly broader and adding some muscle detail, before smoothing the whole thing ready for armour/weapon/detail to be added for each individual model to follow.

Moving swiftly on our new 2D artists have been busy to! Pangahas from the hiveworkshop has drawn us up a stunningly detailed concept of the Barracks, used by the State of Theramore (more racial info can be found over at the hiveworkshop).

Another artist, whipped us up a nice map/splash screen, what use we'll have for this yet, we honestly don't know but it deserves an honourable mention for it's pure artistic prowess:
 


There has been a fair bit of lore and racial tweaking too, but we have yet to decide we are going to format/upload large chunks of text to moddb, however don't despair you can still find all our latest work at our thread here.

Also be sure to check out our new 'Community Contribution' system that will anyone of any skill level or with any free time to help us out, without committing themselves to the project. We understand the community wants a massive in say in this and too many want to take part, so go over check it out and perhaps you'll be rewarded for your efforts!

Your Orc seems a bit low poly, has it reached the limit of this "new" engine already?

Calling it 'warcraft 4' might not be a good idea, this would surely be a problem if blizzard ever decides to make one themselves.

1. The model is a 'base' this means it will be edited and detailed further for each other orc model, "based" on it, adding armour/muscle detail and the like.

2. Despite it being a new engine, it's still an RTS were not trying to make a Crysis mod or anything. From an RTS point of view (camera), low-poly models are fine... They need to be, because there are so many units on screen.

As for the orc, yes it is low poly, this is merely the base for many models to follow - our modeller has left a good chunk of poly allowance for armour/weapons and detail on further versions of the model.

Also remember that this is an RTS, not an FPS, the model poly counts are considerably lower, neither is the Orc properly textured yet.

Good idea, but Blizzard will have a problem and you are gonna get even more problems. Change the name, don't use Warcraft, make your own name.

For the orc, really great and good made, I can't even wait for your seeing your heroes ;D

Too bad it will only stay in my dreams, I don't have starcraft and here in brazil it's harder to find games ¬¬

xXMaNiAcXx, Warcraft 4 is a pet name. the mods full official title is: Warcraft 4 Starcraft 2 The Legacy of the dammned. Thanks for the support, the heroes will be excellent. You may have noticed a post above stating our expaination for our name.

Also, Sc2 is very available in brazil, i assure you, several modders i know live in brazil, and have been quick to get their hands on a pre-order of Sc2.
