War of the Silmarils is a sub-mod of Third Age: Total War, the ever popular total conversion for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms. The goal is to follow the lore as closely as possible and faithfully reproduce the heroic First Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth in the Medieval II: Total War engine. War of the Silmarils features many new unique factions, each complete with a roster of units, a completely new campaign map of Beleriand and the lands to the North, and much more. So if you're one of the many who have been enthralled by Tolkien's mystical world, this is a mod to watch!

They're one of the Houses described by Tolkien as slingers. Using stones. The throwing stones animation was the closest I could get.

It's ok I guess, I just hope It doesn't look to silly. Great job btw I wanted something like this since I first read the Silmarillion.

After some thought, I changed the "stone-throwing" animation to bow animation, which actually looks like they're using a sling.

Description

House of the Tree

The folk of the House of the Tree guard the western entrance to the Arch of Ingwë day and night. They are a great house of both Noldor and of Sindar, and their lord and captain is Galdor, a Noldorin Elf who is seen as the most valiant of the Gondolindrim save Turgon alone; and the Folk of the Tree do not lack in valour or bravery either, and they will be among the first to throw themselves into the fray. Their raiment is green, and in battle they prefer to fight with swift slings from afar; yet if the enemy draws near, they will defend themselves with iron clubs and stones, and they carry sturdy wooden shields displaying the heraldry of their house; yet they bear no helm nor mail. And though the lack of heavy armour makes them more vulnerable to harm than their kin, it also makes them excellent light support infantry, able to cross the battlefield swiftly and strike hard and fast to weaken the enemy before heavier troops join the fight.
