Crusader is here and just 2 more LR variants are left. This model was even heavier than Redeemer in number of triangles. It has 9450.
As you can see, the gunner that is usually found on top of the Crusader has been replaced by remote controlled turret. I really don't like to break the outline of tanks with members of crew so I came up with this. Feeling pretty satisfied with how this turret ended up and overall proportions in comparison to the Crusader itself, but I would like to hear your thoughts as well.
Looking now at these pics, individual bolters in the Hurricane bolter look somewhat thin, so I'll expand them later on, but this is Crusader as you'll, I hope, see it in game.

I had actually thought of asking about this earlier but apparently I ended up forgetting. Considering you don't want the gunners up there taking fire with no actual major advantage, an automated or remote controlled turret would be a good option.
Will this be a future of the crusader only, or will it be done for any other of the LR variants?
My thoughts exactly. Why endanger crew member for a job machine can do, probably for some percentage better.
This will feature only on Crusader, as multimelta is actually weapon you almost always see on this variant, to alleviate its lack of anti armor weapons. Other LRs have usually some weapon for gunner as well, but Crusaders multimelta has special role, while these others, usually stormbolter are just for pin point defence.

I have to agree here; the gunner is a great asset aesthetically and in war it does work very well. Makes me think of other units that have their squads exposed in vehicles now.
