The Unofficial Patch is not really a mod, but while the default basic patch mostly only fixes bugs, the optional plus patch, that can be choosen at installation, is like a restoration mod adding a lot of unfinished content, including new quests, maps, weapons, items, characters, dialogue, graphics, models, sounds and music!

It says "beta1" on patches scrolls - so it's not the final 9.9 I guess (like 9.8 was)?

Hmmm, while chosing stuff during installation from the Plus Patch, does selecting stuff like "No new audio" or "No new particles" means that I do NOT want to install that particular part of the Plus patch...or it is actually a spelling error and one MUST choose each of these if they want them included?

If I want to install ALL should I select everything or not?

Wesp5 Is there any chance that VTMB could be ported to a more updated version of Source so that it would support multicore rendering? That would help a lot. Or make it as an HL2 mod maybe.

No chance. Besides that I don't think this would make enough difference (who really needs multicore rendering for such an old game?), some of the maps are too huge for the HL2 Source engine and it would take much too long even if Activision would allow it. Which it doesn't!

When I try to install the patch, my norton antivirus keeps trying to quarantine parts of the files even when I disable it... Any suggestions for what to do? Thanks

Uncheck developer extras and if that doesn't help get another antivirus program or allow the patch. This is certainly a false positive!

I bugged in Pier. I can't get out of the Pier after Killing/Letting Julius go for B-Rated Writer Quest. I can't go back to Sta. Monica even after going through the end of the tunnel.

Hello this has been the first mod I downloaded and I seem to have hit a snag as while I booted it up my game doesn't seem to have engaged it properly. I believe their is supposed to be a history function and whenever I boot up my game the people in the ambient NPC's have stopped walking and dancing.

This is unusual as your the only mod I have for this game, and I know you have fixed some things as I can now see the intro sequences which previously would not boot up.

Are you playing from the shortcut created by the patch? Also the histories are only available if you choose the plus version on installation.

Hey Wesp5, I just started a new game with this 9.9 unofficial patch, and when I start the game I cannot use fists or disciplines (noticed on tutorial, also happens when you skip it). I checked config and it is mapped as follows:

bind "MOUSE1" "+attack"
bind "MOUSE2" "vm_discipline"

Which appears to be correct. I tried restarting with another character and the same issue occurs.

I tried launching mod-less and it worked 100% fine. It is 9.9 Unofficial installed directly on fresh install. Any info on this? I'll try going with 9.8 and see what happens.

Not getting fists at the start of the game is a known random bug that the patch is supposed to fix. Are you sure you started from the patch shortcut or appended the necessary launch option when starting from Steam? Also are you using Wine or something similar?

Yes, I am running from wine and using GOG version of the game. I tried starting the game several times now (mostly as Tremere admittedly) and every time I cannot use fists at start, and when I skip tutorial can't use them or disciplines in apartment/outside.

I am certain that the patch is running due to menu screen being different and character selection screen looking different also.

I do have to make an edit on the shortcut in order to work, the one created on my linux machine is:
"[wine prefix and stuff] ... C:\\Games\\VtMB\\vampire.exe -game\ Unofficial_Patch"

I have to delete the "\" because it doesn't properly launch into the patch, (default menu screen) and it puts out an error when starting a new game, but I assume that on windows it would be as I modified it in either case.

edit. I also just tried v9.8 on fresh install and the same issue occurs, so it's something with me. Not sure what though.

The problem is the Wine environment that has problems running the Python code Bloodlines is using. Check the linux_loader.sh in the Extras/Player Mods folder...

The rights are with Activision and they won't ever part with them as long as the game makes them money ;).

Only in the plus version of the UP. In the original game only Ventrue could use Dominate in dialogue but I added a bit more limit option for Tremere because they have it in the PnP game too...

I can't figure out how to change the resolution on the game to something decent. When I go to the options menu ingame, I'm only given the three base options instead of what I need. Do I change it within the mod's files or did I install it wrong?

Hey, Wesp. I've been playing through the game and I'm about four hours in. I was never able to get into the Surfside diner because it just crashed whenever I tried to enter so I just left it, but eventually you have to go there to meet Jeanette and it still wouldn't let me in.

I tried googling the problem but couldn't find anyone with the same issue. So, I resorted to the first step of trying to fix any steam game and verified the integrity of the game cache. Only when I tried to start the game up again and it immediately crash on me, did I realise what verifying integrity might have done to a game that has a giant patch installed.

Is this it then? Have I ****** it? Because that would be annoying, not that there seemed to be any way to get into the diner anyway.

Reinstalling the UP over the Steam version should fix any issues of the integrity check. More important is did you always start the game from the patch shortcut or did you append -game Unofficial_Patch to the launch options when starting from Steam?
