UT40K: The Chosen Although 40K players and other Mod Teams may not have herd about us, we have in fact been going on, for quite a while. The fact that a ModDB page was never set up for us has only just been brought to light. We are a small but dedicated team, devoted to bringing the universe of Games Workshops Warhammer 40,000 to it's full glory, using the UT3 engine. While we have been toiling in the shadows, we have actually managed to release a Number of Public Betas over the last year and improve on them with each upgrade. We are devoted to remaining as close to the publish code rules as we possibly can, to the point where we have implemented both the JAM system, for the Terminator Assault Cannon, and a fully functional vehicle damage system, complete with Front, Side and Rear armour values and features all of the ways of disabling a vehicle (e.g. Crew Stunned, Weapon Destroyed, Immobilised and all the others) We have two mostly functional races available; The Imperium's...

Lol isnt that sorta infringing on copyright though? Using machinima to create a movie using someone elses creations? (eg. ingame characters and weapons)

Kool, so how does machinima work? Does it like extract the game models from what ever game you select, then all the user has to do is animate them into a movie?

if it was only that easy, as mentioned before (old forum) i've worked out how to use FaceFX so that we can make our characters speek which is more than i could in the last version.
as for machinima, a lot depends on the game, most don't even give you an editor but with UT3 we get the whole lot, so you can rig and animate any character put them in a map (set) an make a film out of it. trust me it still takes a lot of work to do but thats why i joined this team all those years ago

no, go to make something unreal and look at the machinima submissions. Geodav himself had one.

Hey geodav, what would you think about making one entirely in 3ds Max so that we could have a high quality prerender? It'd be very similar to something you'd see in an actual retail game. We could even use the same models, just spruce them up a bit.

I agree. In all honesty, that's pretty much what all my time goes to right now. I'm working on a 3ds Max movie before I get too much into UT40k.

Can 3ds max animations, such as walking and shooting be imported in the UnrealEditor and used as character walking/shooting animations?

Oct 16 2009 Anchor

Yes. That's how you get custom animations. You can set them up as an animation tree for characters, or for single animations for machinimas.

Kool. So if i was to create some shooting animations in max, id be able to export them to the UE using the UnrealActor plug in for 3ds?

Sorry, I thought you meant the actual gun animation. The shooting "animation" is actually a particle effect made in Cascade. This is like the muzzle flash, or bullet tracers.

Sorry for the confusion.
