UT40K: The Chosen Although 40K players and other Mod Teams may not have herd about us, we have in fact been going on, for quite a while. The fact that a ModDB page was never set up for us has only just been brought to light. We are a small but dedicated team, devoted to bringing the universe of Games Workshops Warhammer 40,000 to it's full glory, using the UT3 engine. While we have been toiling in the shadows, we have actually managed to release a Number of Public Betas over the last year and improve on them with each upgrade. We are devoted to remaining as close to the publish code rules as we possibly can, to the point where we have implemented both the JAM system, for the Terminator Assault Cannon, and a fully functional vehicle damage system, complete with Front, Side and Rear armour values and features all of the ways of disabling a vehicle (e.g. Crew Stunned, Weapon Destroyed, Immobilised and all the others) We have two mostly functional races available; The Imperium's...

Hi all, so I'm a beginning game artist, I attend a game artist school in Belgium,
I'm only a freshman but I'm already willing to become a level designer, so I thought why not join in and get some experience.
I have never worked with any engine, although I got the UT3 and the Hammer engine installed but I've never got through into them.
I'm fairly used to 3DsMax and photoshop (for elvel design that is) , I also got a legit copy of Autodesk Mudbox but still working on that to get that working properly into my workflow!

If any question feel free to ask ?

ok i need to know how much you know about Warhammer 40,000 eg:- play the board game or read some of the books or just play UT40k or DoW
next with your skills in max/ps/mudbox are you sure you want to do level designing in UT3 if still yes then visit Utforge.com and watch the map making videos
if your up to it then visit the GamesWorkshop site for refernce pics of posible maps to build, self help goes a long way but if you get stuck then just shout

Well I don't know anything about Warhammar 40.000, but shouldn't be a problem to do some research about it.

What do you mean ? I wasn't thinking on directly designing into the ut3 engine but only import it into the engine in a very late stadium. (to adjust lights etc?)

ok we need to clear up what you want to do, i think you might mean Environment meshes (static meshes)
if you still mean levels then for games you don't use max to build a level

try this site for more info Book.hourences.com

For ut3 you dont build your levels in max, you build them in the ut3 editor. But you can make environmental objects and static meshes in max then import them into the editor to help decorate your level.

Lol yeah you dont have to do all the models, you can pick whichever one you want to model, and go for it. The whole point of being in a mod team is to learn and to have fun.
