UT40K: The Chosen Although 40K players and other Mod Teams may not have herd about us, we have in fact been going on, for quite a while. The fact that a ModDB page was never set up for us has only just been brought to light. We are a small but dedicated team, devoted to bringing the universe of Games Workshops Warhammer 40,000 to it's full glory, using the UT3 engine. While we have been toiling in the shadows, we have actually managed to release a Number of Public Betas over the last year and improve on them with each upgrade. We are devoted to remaining as close to the publish code rules as we possibly can, to the point where we have implemented both the JAM system, for the Terminator Assault Cannon, and a fully functional vehicle damage system, complete with Front, Side and Rear armour values and features all of the ways of disabling a vehicle (e.g. Crew Stunned, Weapon Destroyed, Immobilised and all the others) We have two mostly functional races available; The Imperium's...

I thought id add this to this section, seems more appropriate.

Just letting you know im still working on this very slowly, but this is your last chance for feedback before i finalise it and start texturing. I still have to plan the seating layout and add bottom details, but that wont take too long, im on holidays for 2 weeks after friday.

oh k, one more question, i think i had a few but i forgot... Are thw wings fixed or will they rotate at all or anything. oh yeh the tris are at about 5k i think(current computer im on is being weird), i can always up and down it.

Well i havnt had any experience with the tau pirahan before, but im pretty sure theyd be fixed wing. As the cockpit is open, im guessing its not a plane/fighter ship, so id say it'd be fixed wing.

So yeah nice work again man, you did this suprisingly quickly.

wings are fixed but the round bits (Drones) do rotate, is there any chance you can send me the mesh before you go on holiday just so i can chack it in-game and such, cheers ;)

Im not actually going anywhere for holidays, i just ment im having holidays from study, my study is probably the only reason its not finished. I will do alot more in holidays, with the exception of having to spend time fixing my car and doing some work for cash.

Oh yeh what software are you guys using, i beleive i saw biggest_kid was using max, and geo what do you use? I myself am using Maya.

Yeah i use max and photoshop. Also, geo, i have another friend making a tau gun drone, right now i think its under 5k, and its a very nice model. Would you somehow like to adapt it into Freeranged's model?

well we should keep the same design across all the drones if they are all pretty much the same, except mine has to be textured different to some other ones, from what ive seen they are mostly the same but with dif gun extentions, but yeh with different camo patterns and such.

Yeah hmm so how could we do it? Maybe just use the default tau tan coloured texture for all tau models? I think thats what we were planning to do in the first place.

yeh i'm a max user, never could get my head around maya. as for the drones the main thing is to maintain a constant uvw layout, as the drones are used in most tau vehicles maybe if we use the bottom corner of the sheet ca:- 512x512

The guy that ive got modeling this gun drone has it under 5k, will that be ok? Unless we use his gun drone as a deployable turret or something, and just use the default gundrone made by freeranged for all the tau vehicles? I think thatd be the best way to go.

Ok, go ahead freeranged create your ultimate drone. I personally think we shouldnt include the drones, but since we are staying as close as possible to the codex, we might aswell.

Almost done my studies for the year just got couple things to finalise this week, so stay tuned for updates for this next week. Oh yeh can we get some dummy model out so i can have soemthing to match proportions to.

Nice model, also, im pretty sure there is two dummy models in the ut40k test map that comes with the standalone version of our mod. Perhaps you could download it and take them out of the map using the editor?

Also, was just playing around with the UDK editor; there is a dummy model skeletal mesh in the content browser that you can have a look at, though im not sure if they are the same scale as our characters.
