The old UGC mod was very fun to play, and it was truly an awesome experience back when it first came out. Up until then, nobody had attempted to create a massive, lore accurate Galactic Conquest and have it work within the EaW format. For that reason, it was as much a "proof of concept" as it was an actual mod and was abandoned before it really came into its own. Now, however, "Custome Edition" has finally given us an enhanced iteration of the classic, and adds in lots of new high quality ground maps and updated visuals. UGC: CE is a welcome addition to the recent wave of new mods that update and improve upon old EaW content.
While the old ground maps for the UGC mod were servicable enough, but they were mostly rotational variants and reskins of the original. This mod is now replacing them with some of the finest maps in the entire EaW/FoC community, giving you an all around better way to play the classic UGC galactic conquest. Moreover, the dev team is very active, and is continually working on this mod to improve it and add new content. Highly recommended!
Probably my favourite SWEaW mod, unlike some other mods - it's like vanilla but simply much bigger and much better.
Really nice cosmetic overhaul with a HUGE galaxy canonically correct, neat ground maps and a bunch of additional units from canon, but respecting the old gameplay. The most fun-to-play while still being basic mod of EAW I have found.
