The UETF issues a modified version of the standard issue marine pistol as a backup sidearm to all it's operatives. The pistol fires in semi-automatic mode and uses a 12 round magazine. The weapon is modified to chamber heavy 14mm rounds as opposed to the standard 11 mm rounds. The added weight and extra recoil make the weapon hard to control for non-augmented operators; the extra strength and dexterity of UETF operatives allow them to easily control the weapon even at high sustained fire rates. The large round inflicts high damage on non-armored targets but is ineffective against specialized armor types. The weapon has also proved to be effective at long range when fired in a crouching position.
Standard usage is to use the weapon only to conserve primary weapon ammunition or when primary weapon ammunition is exhausted. However, the flexiblity of the pistol make it useful in specialized situations. The high rate-of-fire makes the weapon more effective at close range and is recommended for fades engaging targets in CQB. The pistol is recommended as a backup for engineers who have deployed their primary weapons in secondary modes.
