Description

The Heavy Assault Weapon is the upgraded Squad Assault Weapon specially outfitted for UETF defensive operators. The weapons primary role is to provide heavy suppressing and direct fire in medium range engagements. The weapon system has been modified to fire at even higher rounds-per-minute than the standard SAW at the expense of accuracy.

To assist in the defensive role, the HAW has been outfitted with a special firing mode, the 'Phalanx Bullet Storm'. A brute force defensive measure, the Bullet Storm increases the rate of fire of the weapon in addition to fragmenting each bullet as it passes out of the barrel, creating a literal storm of lead that can destroy incoming projectiles. Although it is a potent defense measure, sustaining the Bullet Storm for more than a few seconds will quickly drain the weapons magazine.

Upgrades for this weapon are available to experienced operators.
At level 1, the weapons magazine capacity is upgraded.
At level 2, the bullets in the weapon are upgraded to hollow point rounds, increasing damage.
At level 3, the magazine feed mechanism is simplified, allowing the magazine to be changed in less time.
At level 4, a finely-machined barrel replaces the stock barrel, greatly increasing accuracy.
At level 5, an enhanced gas-cooling system is installed, allowing the rate of fire of the weapon to be further increased.
At level 6, an ultra light magazine replaces the original magazine, allowing for even higher magazine capacity.
