Description

The Carbine is a modified variant on the standard marine assault rifle. Intended as a longer-range "stand off" weapon, the system chambers smaller caliber rounds, increasing accuracy at the cost of stopping power. Magazine capacity is also increased by 20% with the smaller rounds.

The carbine is issued specifically to the Quartermaster class to assist operators in the support role, allowing them to inflict damage while staying on the periphery of the heaviest combat. The higher accuracy makes the weapon more useful against mobile, unarmored targets; the larger magazine capacity also makes the weapon useful against hard to hit targets.

Upgrades are available to experienced users:
At level 1, a low-power magnifying optical scope is installed on the weapon, allowing the operator to zoom in on distant targets.
At level 2, a custom-machined barrel is installed, further increasing accuracy.
At level 3, a tungsten core is installed in each round, increasing damage.
At level 4, a hair trigger is installed, increasing the rate of fire of the weapon.
At level 5, the rounds are switched to a compact casing system, increasing the magazine capacity to 50.
At level 6, a titanium core is installed in each round, further increasing damage.
