Total Chaos is a total conversion mod for Doom 2 that runs on the GZDoom source port. The mod is a survival horror set on a remote island known as Fort Oasis. The island was once run by a community of coal miners which one day suddenly disappeared, leaving behind the abandoned concrete jungle to waste away. Something, clearly, has gone very wrong with this place. Upon your arrival at Fort Oasis, you receive a strange radio transmission. Someone wants to be found.

Description

Welcome to Fort Oasis, an island filled with mystery and a horrid history waiting to be uncovered. The Open Alpha includes 2 of 6 levels that will feature in the full mod and is roughly 20-45 minutes in duration (depending on how you play)

Nope, got scared shitless and also the way you use the items in the inventory is weird or broken. I have to spam left mouse button and the item will then be randomly used. I don't know if it is broken or i don't know how to use the inventory.
Edit: also the strobe lighting is inducing headaches for me.

Cheers for playing!
Double-clicking is a bit on the fritz at the moment, should be fixed in a later release.

Its actually smaller than I expected which is an achievement as well. But there will be more levels that will need more resources. But for something this good I wont mind the file size. If I were to guess I'd suspect it to be around a couple of gigs when he gets done.

Open Alpha 110716. The current Zandronum very newest is 3.0 Alpha 161030-2038 and the mod doesn't boot after printing a few errors, stating

Script error, "tc_super.pk3:actors/pinkietest/actions.txt" line 30:
Invalid state parameter a_setspeed

as the reason for failure (I don't remember what version Zandronum 3.0 Alpha is based on, but it's old, something like 2.0.x). GZDoom 2.1.1 (x64) and higher on the other hand print a ton of errors, but does boot and run with varying low FPS. GZDoom is 64-bit, Zandronum 32-bit.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 (overclocked to 3.4GHz)
8GB DDR2-800
nVidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores (a little upgraded variant) clocked to max 1025mV, 850MHz core, 2000MHz VRAM.

How to use items, not working for me

Press I to access the inventory screen, then double click on any item to use it. It will also show you on the left how using the item will affect your current status.

The inventory clicking is a bit buggy at the moment, so the double click may take a couple of tries to get used to. It is something we'll be fixing up in the near future.

This lived up to every expectation I envisioned it to be, and I find it incredibly difficult to believe this is still DOOM. The attention to detail is amazing; even the debris on the ground are 3D!

You, sir, have made the prettiest mod for DOOM, and it's been so fun to play even though it's still in alpha. Keep up the amazing work!

It looks great and has a very spooky feeling, I have a good performance on my PC.

However, I do not know if you are aware of it, resolutions beyond 1920x1080 aren't working properly, you get some sort of "double screen". If you select 1920x1080 as the highest resolution and restart the game, it works properly.

So not only have one, it GZDoom. Everything is fine)
In general, it seems to me that this happens when there is little free RAM, just guessing.

I hope in future versions you add precash actors, textures, and sounds. This would greatly speed up the game.
like this in MAPINFO/Map definition:
PrecacheClasses = "<actor1>", "<actor2>", "<actor3>", ...
PrecacheTextures = "<texture1>", "<texture2>", "<texture3>"
...

And so it seems that the game is very very dark!
But the game is amazing, I really hope you will be able to complete the project to the end and put in steam as the full game)

Thanks heaps Alekv! I've been trying to find a way to do this for ages but I never thought to look in to the MAPINFO node. I'll see I get that in the next version :D

Have you ever thought to make TotalChaos releases over the GZDoom-GPL as an independent game?

And about the vanishing sun rays of light, you can try using a flat sprite instead of 3D models
I did that in my game, and the light does not seem to disappear.

****! I waited for so long and I can not play it because there are too many flickering lights, similar to strobe... I had a history of epilepsy and these lights still bother me a lot. Anyway, great job.

I've never installed mods for GZDoom before. I saw Total Chaos on Youtube and I wanna try it out, but launching vanilla Doom II through GZDoom is as far as I can go. Can someone please provide advanced installation instruction?
Wordpress blog seems to be down at the moment too, can't acess it to look there.

srry to say it but is boring as hell and the monsters are so dumb, a big recomendation modify the ia of doom monsters dsnt work here (its not rlly that hard just play with decorate and stuff i have done that thousands of times lol), the monster get stuck with almost anything and the flickering lights make ur head explodes still yes i must say its the most beatiful mod made for doom but it requires tons of work (oh another thing my screen wasnt compatible so i had a big square in the middle of the screen being darker and ther borders where lighter lol you should better use an item that change screen color instead of putting a big black box thats dumb lol)
