Here, we have 2 titan models to choose from, the first one is the REV1
REV1 Perspective View:
REV1: We will also be showing you the left view:
The second one is the REV2, perspective view:
and here is the left side view of the REV2
Of these models, which do you prefer, REV1, REV2, or neither->go back to the drawing board. REV 1 has dual cannons and a different chassis than REV2. REV 2 only has single cannon.
REV2 but with REV1 legs. And also, the part above the cockpit looks a litle flat.
Yeah, or simply the REV1. :-) Still, one cannon is more traditional.
I also begin to wonder, wouldn't we can use the Kane's Wrath Titan model, that model is good enough to use already.
agreed
Yes, I liked the KW Titan model. I would use it as well.
would the makers of tiberium essence let you use there model?
I agree with this. Rev2 looks better on the upper part but is too short. It could also maybe use a bit more armored look.
Agreed, Rev 2 with rev 1 legs, dual cannon can be upgrade maybe
Upgrade with 2 cannons sounds nice, but I'm worried about the recoil (Yes, laws of physics & realism involve). That's why why I don't like the dual cannon idea.
SilentMirage; your worried about the recoil of using a pair of Standard combustion based Cannons? You could always use a railgun which, based on what ive read have no significant recoil(the theory is the recoil is exerted sideways on to the rails). My evidence? US navy have tested rail guns on platforms with thin mounts and on wheeled carts.

Also the resultant force of using a Railgun to the same scale as the cannon on that walker(10-15 meters?) will produce a much higher impact force. Railguns would be preferable to Coil guns(Gauss cannons) as they have a smaller limiting factor of heat and power than Gauss weapons which have massive heat and power limitations(the coils will create more heat as they will have a higher electrical resistance than the two rails do).
And if your wondering what the difference between the two is, Rail guns use 2 oppositely charged Rails to create a magnetic force and accelerate a slug, whilst Gauss cannons use a charged coil(electro-magnets) to accelerate magnetic slugs down-barrel.
Of course you only need to take this stuff into account if your actually going for realism here.
Rev 2 has the polys on the cannon inverted...
Frankly, I don't like neither, they look way too light. The Titan is a heavy assault/battle walker, these look more like Wolverine Class mechs.
There's an idea, shorten them a bit and smack a couple gattling guns on those, and you've got a wolverine.
The Rev2 would be nice if it had thicker, bulkier legs since it already has a squat appearance befitting of a heavy assault walker, at least in the perspective shot.
Whichever one you do is fine, but make it taller overall. In the originals, the Titan was really tall and could fire over walls and such. Almost on the scale of being a short-range artillery. These seem a little squat and unimposing. Other than height, both look fine.
EDIT: After looking back, the cannons on #1 seem a little bit high and unsupported for their (presumably huge) recoil. If you end up using that one, have them underslung, or somehow supported better than they are now.
My answer is complicated:
I like the chassis of REV1, the cannon and legs of REV2.
By that I mean it should have 2 cannons of REV2's design.
If I had to pick outright I'd go with REV2.
the REV1 is the one that has 2 cannons
I'd say just take a look at the old Titan leg designs, both sets look awkward. I think the main problem is they don't look like they could support the chassis standing at attention like that.
I prefer 1 cannon, to keep the traditional feeling. 2 cannons is more like heading towards EA's design, and it'll be an obvious no go!
KW's Titan is already a good model, we can use that. ;)
I gotta say that it's definitely REV2 with REV1 legs. I love the old school look of the Titans!
I vote REV2
Hard decision =S
Both look good to me.
The workmanship on these models is stellar, as far as I can tell. Compliments to your 3D artists; I can't wait to see more. :D
That said, here are my thoughts:
1. The design of the turret and cannon are sleek and futuristic--just what we're looking for. If I had to critique one thing about those parts of the design, though, it'd be the inset areas on the turret. These "air vents", if you will, strike me as weak points in the unit's armor, which is detrimental to its identity as a main battle tank. It should have smooth, implacable surfaces--like an Abrams tank--which give the impression of resiliency.
2. The legs of both designs don't quite look right to me. REV 2's legs simply wouldn't work from a practical standpoint; they look far too frail to support the weight of the main turret, and the bent-backward joints make the whole thing look awkward. REV 1's legs are much better, though the "knee" joint still looks a bit weak. If you look at TS's Titan, the legs maintain thickness throughout, giving an impression of strength.
3. Whatever you do, make sure this thing gets only one cannon; that's the iconic part of the Titan. Slapping another gun on for the sake of symmetry just makes it look strange and unwieldy, as though it'd fall over from the recoil.
QFT with you, the 2 cannon idea just ain't gonna work well, laws of physics is one thing when you think of the recoil, but not to mention the idea itself might head towards EA's bad side or C&C4 itself. Let's keep it within the seriousness or Westwood level, shall we? 1 cannon will do. ;)
2 cannon as an upgrade? No way, I prefer that 1 cannon to be upgraded as a railgun. Just like in Kane's Wrath.
When I say "Clash of the titans" I thought this was going to be about the greek myths. I am disapointed.
ha ha, you should have looked at the picture, does clash of the titans have the strapline: tiberium eclipse ?
Rev 2 but with Rev 1 legs or edit them so it doesn't look like a kangaroo
REV1 looks like a slight spinoff of the C&C4 Avatar. The positioning of the cannons make it look as though the Titan will be flat on its back from the recoil. The legs look good and somewhat sturdy, using a wider foot base would make it look like it can stay standing after firing.
The cannon on REV2 is too high,it looks like the Titan will start spinning if it fires. Dropping the cannon lower would be a good idea. The legs for REV2 also make it look top heavy, especially with the length of the cannon, and that the legs barely support the body. Thicker and possibly taller legs would look a bit better.
Both are decent designs, but I say REV2.
Both are horrible! Stick closer to the design of Tiberian Sun!!!
Edit:
For the love of god! Listen to Golan and General_Aurum! They know their stuff!
REV 2! :D
Obviously REV2 with REV1 legs :) !
REV2, just make it a bit taller and add a "head" sort to speak i mean make it look like an improvement of the original tiberian sun modals, just improved
i think REV 2 just with legs more like REV 1
and lower cannon
Agreed with most people here, REV 2 all the way, except that it needs bigger legs. I'm not so fond of REV 1's legs, however, so maybe you could just scale REV 2's legs up a little?
REV2 with REV1 legs, i like the single cannon and chassis of the REV2 but the legs are bent to far back, and the idea of having to cannons makes it look a bit "over-powering" and a bit untraditional
REV2 with REV1 legs ;-)
REV2 with Rev 1 legs, make the dual cannons a purchasble upgrade and were golden.
I like number 1 better. Number 2 is a bit "Squat".
Alright, it looks like REV2 with REV1 legs
btw, this already comes with the Railgun
Wow, that's good news to hear. :) As far as the recoil goes, let's hope you don't break or bend too much the physics and realism laws.
they both look great, but I go for REV2.
rev1 with rev2 cannon
Rev 2 with Rev 1 legs !!!
REV 2's leg style looks nice, but they look too weak to support the chassis, either buff up REV 2's legs or use REV 1's legs.
REV 2 otherwise.
i like rev1 but u can some sort of a heavy bag at its back to balance the weight of its 2 cannons and for ther make an animation for the whole titan geting back while it is firing just like c and c 4
Revision 2 looks most like Tiberian Sun.
we are in the process of remodeling the Titan's legs and have already redone the railgun to actually make it look like a railgun, shortly after the next news post comes up we will show you the finished product.
I like Rev2's Cannon but it would look better on Rev1. A Titan isnt a Titan when it has Dual Cannon's. But if it was a Upgrade I'm cool with that. Also Using KW's Titan would be good But that probably is out of the question. Nice work Keep it Coming!
