Tiberian Eclipse is a total conversion mod for Unreal Tournament 3 that brings the theme of the famous RTS game C&C;Tiberian Sun to a whole new genre. BTE will bring the player into the war that rages between Nod and GDI and allow them to battle that in the past, has only been seen overhead. We have a lot of key and unique features we plan to implement into our mod that will set us apart from all others. Not only this, but creative liberties are going to be implemented into this TC. Although I want this mod to be recognized as a Tiberian Sun conversion, we are not strictly held to the style. Original objects from TS will be recognizeable (the Orca Fighter for instance) but will also be revamped with a new style. We do not feel the mod should be done to exactness because there is no creativity in that.

So, today we have some news to post that, unfortunately, will be hard to take for some, but hopefully a relief to many others.

Through the past week and a half our development team has been in constant debate about the status of 2142. It's mod support is non-existent, the graphics aren't fully what we want, the coding aspect is extremely limited on changing things how we want, and the community seems to be dwindling. We have seen other promising mods spend a lot of time making quality projects and yet there seems to be a huge downturn in the number of people playing them only a few weeks after their release. The Solar-Fissure team fears this and will not work so hard and put so much time into something to be overlooked just because of the 'dated' engine we are currently on.

Already we have had word that some people may not have applied to our team because of it. One of our newest applicants admitted he struggled with himself to even apply because, in his words, we were working on an "old" game. I strongly believe this also coincides with our current forum member count. With all the good comments we have received from various sites and the amount of hits we have on our ModDB, a 45 member count on our forums (this includes myself and the rest of the team) seems a bit odd.

This has been a hard decision to come to because I really do like the 2142 engine and game, and it's perfect for our setting. However, there are better options out there for such an ambitious project as the one we currently run on...

So, the plea from those who have asked in multiple areas has been answered. Tiberian Eclipse will no longer find Battlefield 2142 as it's home. Instead, we look to the soon to be released, Crysis.

We feel the game poses more of what we could want in basically every aspect. Better models, textures, graphics, coding, gameplay... It has what we want. UT3 was a consideration, but we feel that our home lies with Crysis. Our mod will continue progress there in the same fashion is had here already. The only change will possibly be the beginning Title (or maybe even just Tiberian Eclipse instead of B: TE). More information will be released soon as we get more organized on this issue.

We also have some updates on two textures and part of our model revamping process to more unique settings of our own design. Please stay tuned for these updates coming soon, and let your friends know about us and our current decision to port

We hope that you all understand and can support us with our port to Crysis. We understand it's a higher demanding game but we hope most of you can join us in a better development.

We woould also like to thank the fans who suggested we port, as well as the couple of interviews we have conducted. From all of the information we have gathered lately it has led us to this decision we hope will be the best for our mod. Thank you again to the sites who have posted news about us in excitement. To those who either cannoy play Crysis or were looking forward to our mod on 2142, we are deeply sorry. It just is not fair nor beneficial for the team to continue our work on 2142
