Thank you! I use different programs for creating bump maps depending on the complexity of the model. For simple things such as swords, I use CrazyBump - a simple tool which generates normal maps from the diffuse. That's what you see in this video. I then edited the generated map in GIMP to create the finished product. For more complex items, such as armours, I use xnormal and generate normal maps from high poly meshes.
All told, it took me about 45 minutes from sitting down at my laptop to finishing the item.
Have you considered slowing it down and possibly explaining stuff so those of use that aren't as skilled yet could get better? I mean I tried some modeling but I often end up using the "long" way of doing stuff here I noticed you used shorter methods while still getting the same results.
"the Dark Lord Jarvisimo forged in secret a Master scimitar...to control all others. And into this scimitar he poured his cruelty, his malice" Oh wait wrong weapon...
A bit edgy at some points, perhaps even a lack of details at the diffuse/normal map and the design seems to be a bit unpractical, but all in all clean, simple modelling and texturing. Good work.
You sure have a talent in giving people what they want, all we can ask for is that you dont give up with making this mod so take all the time you need.
Very nice, what do you use to do bumpmap or is it part of the GIMP?
Also how long did it take to model, texture and do the bump mapping?

I'll see if I can find some time in October to make some modelling tutorials. :)
This same model would be good enough for that :D
You could post it to the youtube channel you have, give us more to watch there, also outstanding job! Keep up the amazing work
i wish i could do that *_*
