A Realist Fantasy Project for Crysis, featuring an engaging story, immersive environments and a deep, highly realistic combat system all presented with a cinematic sensibility. The IW Team is recruiting. We are seeking animators, coders, modellers and texture artists.
Two new images of my "bridge-house". There have been updates to the textures and the model. I have also added two re-useable "attacment" elements - the wood-framed extension, and a small shelter. Aside from this there is a stone trough for horses.
It is looking really good. And unlike (I think) most of the others, i actually don't think mud-decals and such is THAT important, I mean, it's a fantasysetting and all. And it still looks good. Anyhow, nice work. Looking forward to see more ;)
A Realist Fantasy Project :D trust me.. you could compare this to for example high quality weapon models: they look awesome but without the skin its pretty much worthless. decals will add a lot depth into the game .. and im not talking about decals only for the streets and walls, also weapons, armors and other props...
you may not notice them when you play a game for the first time but after a while all those small things start to matter :=) dam that sounded like marriage counselor
Yeah, so remember to look for decals in your wife before marriage =P It is the kinda thing you will regret not to have looked for, later on?
Nice job so far mate, It's looking more Oblivionistic (new word!) for every update .. So when we talk a "realistic" fantasy world .. We're not talking huge imaginative and creative swords and weapons ? =/ Just more of the regular?
Huh? More of the regular? There certainly won't be buster swords, gunblades, Daedric-type or other "imaginative" weaponry - that's because these weapons are totally unrealistic, designed with absolutely no discipline and look ridiculous. Almost all fantasy projects (amateur or professional) feature weapons which are, more or less, totally unfeasible. Even Conan the Barbarian's sword (which is modest in fantasy terms) would weigh far too much to be used with anything approaching finesse - except maybe by Arnold himself.
We should remember this, as well, swords are just big knives, spears are just pointed sticks. They have a practical purpose before an aesthetic one. Mass-production and practicality of use will, and always have, in history, come first for weapons intended for combat.
Check out some of my weapon images for the kind of aesthetic I desire - elegant simplicity and practicality. Of course, this aesthetic doesn't preclude some elaborate decorations. All Ilsamir armour, for example, will be, to some degree, inlayed with silver.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, and I hope I haven't caused any offence - or misunderstood the original post!
maybe the aristocrats could carry elaborately decorated ceremonial weapons. :D
