A Realist Fantasy Project for Crysis, featuring an engaging story, immersive environments and a deep, highly realistic combat system all presented with a cinematic sensibility. The IW Team is recruiting. We are seeking animators, coders, modellers and texture artists.
Greetings everyone!
Over the past couple of weeks you may have noticed that a few downloads have appeared on the Ilsamiren Wars profile titled "The Cleansing of the Island of Contests".
The tale tells of Udeval's mission to this troubled island in pursuit of the remnants of a raiding party which assaulted one of its twin fortresses. It relates his struggles against the elements, against dangerous foes, and against some who should be his friends.
By the tale's end you should know a little more of the Morchanin Scout Udeval and of the powers he serves and wars against.
Over the next few weeks, each Friday, I will be releasing a fresh part of this short story which I hope will serve to entertain readers and introduce them to some of the features of the world of the Ilsamiren Wars; its places, people, cultures, history and languages.
If you are intrigued, take the time to read this brief story of one of Udeval's missions and post your criticisms at the profile.
Yours sincerely,
Ilsamir Lord
The Ilsamir Capital begins to stir, and the streets are yet lit with torches and lamps. The market will soon commence.

This thing has been going on for years. IIRC, they went from HL2 to Far Cry to Crysis to now Crysis 2. A few drawings, some music tracks, some level designs and lots of wishful thinking, believing that game engines make games. Well, good luck, I guess.
I think you may be mistaken, I've never developed for Source or CryEngine and I am unsure of CryEngine 3. And yes, there has been a lot of wishful thinking, but also some genuine progress, even if real life commitments have recently and consistently gotten in the way of this entirely unpaid work.
Thanks for the feedback, and I hope you find a mod you like :)
the food on the table is professional quality. too bad this doesn't seem like it's going anywhere. hate to see that art go to waste
It has every possibility of progressing, I just haven't the time and energy at the moment. If people want to see it happen, then I'm absolutely thrilled to have their help and input :)
And thank you for the kind feedback on those assets!
Well I think the problem is there isn't much community left around CryEngine 2. Many developers turned away from it because not many great mods get finished after all (MechWarrior Living Legends being the BIG exception) and new people go for UDK or the Source engine anyway. I think that will change as soon as CryEngine 3 SDK comes out ... the list of advantages towards the formerly mentioned engines will be too obvious.
I just hope you are using the time to work on story and general design of the gameworld, and hold out till next spring (Butterfly, another very promising SP mod using CryEngine 2, was put on hold lately as well).
The mod community for Cryengine 2 is not what I remember it as. Too many of the same old same old mods ruined it, I think. Some militaristic storyline with north koreans and jungles and blah blah blah. UDK and Hammer are much more popular now I'm afraid, but there are some of us like myself who strive for originality in what this versatile engine can provide.
As for this mod itself, to stay relevant, it looks... okay. It has been through like 6 game engines and release dates but if it EVER comes out, it might be good. It's the duke nukem forever of fantasy mods.
I guess that's a fair assessment of the project... though almost nothing that has been produced could really be considered engine specific, and most of it was to do with design, or has been directly relevant to furthering the design process. I've never made promises of release dates that weren't highly conditional, and they were realistic given the number of people I had available to work on it at the time.
The simple fact is: I came to this modding caper as a way to tell a story, when successful mods seem usually to begin as a way to exercise existing skills, or to make progress with those existing skills. Everything I've produced for the project has been the product of self-teaching concurrent with studying law.
I'll say what everyone in my position would say: if people are disappointed by the lack of progress, they could try to assist, even if that was just with encouragement, constructive criticism or trying to wrangle assistance for the project.
Is not dead .
i think this was Introduced to Medieval 2 Total War but now the mod is dead.
Um? I think I made it pretty clear I was changing tack. The Medieval II version is "dead", but the project isn't.
