№1 Optimization
The History of Middle-Earth (HOME) is a project that is a platform for other projects, such as TOOD and THOA at the moment, the advantages of our build are obvious optimization and good graphics.
The mod itself has been optimized (THOA) 5 times!
The original itself (BFME2) and (ROTWK) 2 times!
Everyone who played the original THOA mod version 1.3.7.1 noticed frequent crashes, pink textures and a window warning of low RAM. This happens in other mods, but we fixed it thanks to new developed and tested mechanics, a completely new assembly of original games in RePack format - The History of Middle-Earth (HOME) - this is a project that is a platform for other projects such as TOOD and THOA At the moment, the advantages of our build are obvious optimization and good graphics. All files are divided into smaller groups, which gives better speed for reading records and playing from textures to effects and sounds. We have also improved the graphics in the game. FPS is raised in the mod itself to 33 FPS, keep in mind it is locked, i.e. The speed of the game is directly related to the given FPS and it will not be higher in any way; if it is made higher, it will be along with the acceleration of the game.
№2 Hero classes
- Weak ones - the goal is to destroy strong heroes.
- Medium - the goal is to support the allied forces.
- Archers are specially designed to destroy single targets and individual heroes from a distance.
Mounted heroes - intended to support and strengthen mounted troops in raids and push through enemy ranks and bows.
- Monsters/Trolls - the goal is to support allied forces and destroy troops.
- Strong warriors in heavy armor are the target for battles in the thick of things, suitable for killing heroes and units.
- Mages - the goal is to destroy a small army and weak heroes.
- Ring fighters - purpose - destruction of masses/troops and buildings.
№3 Mode "Battle for the Ring"
- All crashes related to the mode have been fixed.
- Income from farms and fortresses has been increased.
- The price of the fortress and farms has been reduced.
- New units and new flagpoles have been added to buildings for hire.
- All heroes are commanders and are capable of leading armies into battle on the map.
- All troops are built in 4 units, but trolls, monsters and catapults are built in 2 units. The hiring price is always equal to the price of one unit or one detachment. The calculation takes into account all 4 squads and all 2 units built in one turn.
- At the beginning of the battle, there are 3 squads (a squad of archers, spearmen and swordsmen), and all those three initial squads are also allocated as an additional squad, which already represents a small initial army, with which you can already hold your positions at the beginning of the game.
- If you have chosen the “Historical scenario” for 8 players, then throw two bots out of sight of the settings (the settings in this mode are provided only for 6 players), you need to select the “Death of Arnor” scenario again, it is for 3 players, then the extra bots will be removed from the occupied positions slots including two invisible ones.
Problems of the original:
- You cannot use more than 4 commanders in one territory.
- You cannot immediately transfer units en masse between heroes and territories; you must transfer them in small batches, selecting units via +ctrl to avoid relegation.
- Save on the global map before battles.

№4 New Team Points System
All the figures given below are correct for the “No Limit” version of the mod; with the “Limit” version, these indicators should be increased by 2 times; switching between versions occurs in the mod launcher in the other settings section.
Heroes have 1 command point, this was done so that in the “Battle for the Ring” mode they will be displayed on the global map with reinforcement flagpoles if they are not commanders.
One infantryman = 1 command point.
Cavalry is based on the calculation: rider + mounted creature = 2 command points.
Trolls = 3 command points.
Large animals = 5 command points, but taking into account the troops on it, it can reach up to 40 and 50 command points when fully equipped.

- Fixed crashes related to mumakils and other problems.
- Fixed wild imbalance in archers and other unit types.
- A new shooting system for archers, in which they have misses and, without support, do not have much strength other than the main attack against manpower. The new shooting system and the balance between catapults, ballists and monsters have damage on their own and can demolish each other with one volley of their guns or cobblestones by Ents and Giants.
- There is also a new gameplay, where the troops themselves do not cause so much damage to buildings and you need to control siege weapons, and rams become the basis of warfare.
- New economy, the more farms, the greater the income, increase in resource production due to economies of scale, after 8 farms there is an increase in income from all farms by 10%.
- All maps have their own skyline, additional lighting and post effect.
- Maps with impassable terrain for workers in the “Battle for the Ring” mode have been fixed; new maps and game terrains on the original maps have also been added.

- New models and textures of units, buildings and the environment.
- New classes of created heroes as well as modified old classes, improved and strengthened abilities, the damage from all types of weapons of created heroes has also been changed, as a result of which your heroes really kill and kill at once several units, the effect of the selected weapon has been added; if the character has two blades displayed, then in the game they give additional damage in battle.
- The modified walls of the Elves and Isengard may well have improvements the same as the walls of Rohan, namely: a tower, a small secret gate, a siege gate, a banner tower, and a main gate. All towers can have from 1 squad and up to three conscripts.
- Sawmills have been added to all factions except elves, which allows you to create unique alliances with the elves growing forests and cutting them down by another faction.
- All Ents and Huorns are able to hide in the forest, and warriors hide among their feet or roots.
- All trolls' capable stones were equated to siege units and moved to the second level of all lairs; trolls that previously appeared only from the 3rd tier became available on the first due to their weakening or improvements through equipment.
- All neutral-guarding and summoning creatures have level 10, this is due to the great wealth inside the lair and chests, capable of granting levels to both heroes and everyone else.
- The order of abilities has been changed, from now on the branch goes from bottom to top and has up to three super abilities at the end; A.I. has also been improved, capable of fighting you and surprising you.
- Added interfaces and command banners “palantira” to choose from.
- You can use Sweet Fx in THOA, you will find it in the “Customized SweetFX for all games” folder in the root of the mod, and the instructions are also there.
