The Great War mod is a total conversion modification for Napoleon: Total War. It creates an authentic representation of World War 1-era tactics, strategies and general warfare within the game. Including stunning new visuals that include entirely new models and textures for equipment, vehicles and more, the mod immerses you into the era with brand new gameplay unlike anything you've experienced in Total War before.

Can you add new ship models to the mod? There is currently no tools that can convert the ships models so there is no way to replace them with WW1 era ship models. Edited by: BDIZZLE356 |

Hi there, Heard about this mod a while ago and just started playing it. Have to say, amazing work. Battles are truly epic, looking forward to a campaign. Much appreciate all the hard work. I have 2 questions. 1. Is there a mod that will allow more liberal positioning of troops? Craters and trenches end up making the formations go all over the place. I see no reason why troops shouldn't be able hold formation over craters and trenches. 2. I get weird white blotches on my screen while playing. This seems to only happen when I pan the camera with a unit selected. Is this perhaps due to a missing texture or something? |

Hello, 1. Are you talking about the preset formations options? 2. Do you mean the small white boxes and circles that float past the screen sometimes? |

Hi there BDIZZLE, 1. I'm talking about how your units position themselves when trying to move them to a location by clicking and dragging to set their formation (it applies no matter how you move them, but this shows how the formation gets very skewed when trying to place them there). If you try and deploy units over areas with small craters, they end up bottlenecking. I noticed this on Verdun. Some craters allow you to deploy your troops over them while others don't. I'd understand if the craters were very large but these are small. 2. Yeah, that's the ones. Thanks for your reply I'm also getting a random crash during a campaign siege battle. Haven't had any up until now. Happens near end of battle. Any potential fixes? Your help would be much appreciated with this issue in particular. The white dots are less common in battles other than my first test battle which made me make this post. |

1. Unfortunately no. This was an issue in empire too, it's actually worse in empire. The custom maps also have very bad path finding due to the placement of map elements. I've tried to fix this but I couldn't get the mapping tools to work. On campaign maps it's rarely an issue though. 2. It's missing fx elements like floating leaves and things. It only seems to happen when using the free debug camera which also effects how rain effects render aswell. I've tried to fix that too but it never seems to make a difference for some reason. |
