"The Elder Scrolls: Total War" is a total conversion of Medieval 2 Total War - Kingdoms. It gives you a glimpse into the world of The Elder Sсrolls, as the head of one of the 20 factions fighting for dominance over Tamriel...
The 4gb patch found in the Warhammer: BotET-mod - it's required for TES:TW to work. Patch your kingdoms.exe, and only do it once. It will make all heavy mods work and be more stable. Without the patch you may experience a lot of crashes.

Are there instructions for install of the 4gb patch?
>renamed my medieval2.exe to kingdoms.exe
>Did the 4GB patch on it
>I even went back and watched a youtube vid you guys linked in a past version on how to rename the .exe file.
I get one of three outcomes (through, launching through the TES launcher, and the Steam launcher).
1. The games tried to re-install whatever campaign I tried to rename it to. (this is that way I've done Total War mods for a while.)
2. I get the 'unexpected problem' error before crashing.
3. The game launches, but not into TESTW, but into the regular vanilla Kingdoms Total war 2 game.
I love your work, and I empathize with you a lot. This is a huge day for you and your fans. You guys worked hard. And I've been looking forward to seeing what this game has for me! Thank you!
Update: I'm in and it works great! I just had to wait for Steam to re-install some files of some kind. And it worked! I renamed my TESTW file to 'crusades', then rad it in Steam. This is how mods are usually done on Steam as far as I know.
Steam did an update, reinstalling whatever campaign I renamed TESTW to. After I switched the folders' name a second time it let me in! :D

what the files name that you rename into crusades.

So, the whole game file basically. It's a way to trick Steam into launching mods for you.
you can in but still can't play right ?
I'm in, but I can tell something is messed up. The selection options are all TESTW, but the backgroud scene is vanilla. I'm still not in though. I'll update more if I get a response from the devs or I figure it out.
This is me, the "Guest" btw. I joined the community! Yay!
I tried removing the crusades dlc and renaming the elderscrolls mod to crusades but unfortunately I am getting the same error of the unexpected problem
Oh boy, another mod that i have to drop because of this patch
Maybe it will work without this patch
Update #3:
Found this and it seems to be fixed. Thank you Harbinger of Chaos! :D

"Guys I believe I found out what the problem is with the unspecified error on steam.
1. Copy "medieval2" somewhere and rename it "kingdoms" and place it back in the main folder(so you should have both medieval2 and kingdoms in the same folder)
2.Get the 4gb patch and apply it to BOTH exes
3. Delete events.dat and events.idx in The_Elder_Scrolls\data\sounds(Copied from their post) although idk if this is needed, I already did it.
This worked for me so I hope it helps."
I was just about to repost this here, so thanks for being 1 step ahead :P

When i start the game it will load up, but as soon as i try to launch the 4th era campaign, it will not only just load the vanilla map in the screen where you choose your faction, but it will also just get me back to main menu when i click next after i chose a faction
Any ideas why?
