Friday, August 25, 2006 -- Providence, RI -- Overdrive Games today announced that the Tales of Fyrndell tech demo is now in development as a modification for Epic Games' Unreal Tournament 2007, utilizing Unreal Engine 3. The change has come about because of a lack of technological features provided by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Creating the Tales of Fyrndell Tech Demo for Unreal Tournament 2007 will allow the development team more freedom over art and programming aspects and the Unreal community provides much more support for modders and indie developers.
?While modding Oblivion was a good idea at first, technical limitations of the Gamebryo engine would have presented challenges for the technology demo. Looking at our long-term goals and ideas, we believe Unreal Tournament 2007, and ultimately Unreal Engine 3, accommodates our overall design remarkably well,? Dan Mattia, owner of Overdrive Games, stated when questioned about the switch.
