I posted this earlier in the wrong place.

I recall among the problems I had with SMP 2.4 were a couple of weapon balance/realism issues.

There were battle rifles. Mosin, Mauser, G43, Springfield 03, M14, but they had NO accuracy. You'd be better off sniping with a shotgun and slugs. Marked One, what the hell? Especially the AWM. It had pitiful accuracy for a "sniper" rifle. I amended these problems by going into the scripts and basically making them a dozen times more accurate than they were. Because one of the big advantages of old battle rifles over assault rifles is that they can out-range a 5.56/7.62x39 or 5.45 gun any day of the week. If they have pathetic accuracy, that just makes them plain useless.

Then I ran into the 7.62x39 guns. What happened here? Why are they always more accurate than 5.56 and 5.45 guns? The Russian army switched to 5.45 in order to get better accuracy, why is this suddenly backwards? This necessitated more script-editing which took a long time since there are around 10 skins for the AK-47 alone. But in the end I gave
them less accuracy but more power to make up for it.

I'd post a .zip file of all of the script edits I did so you could take a glance at them but I did this a while ago and have since then
experienced a hard drive failure. I hope to see some changes in the characteristics of weapon power/accuracy along these lines in 2.5, if not I'll have some tweaking to do. But in principle the request is simple. Battle rifles should be powerful and reasonably accurate, 7.62x39 assault rifles should be less accurate (and have higher recoil) than their 5.45 and 5.56 counterparts but offer a bit more punch to make up for it.
