CTD starting new game or loading old saves Thread - Super Mod Pack 2.4 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

I love everything I'm seeing of this mod, and I really want to play it, but I get a CTD every time I try. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I backed up the three dll's, ran the exe, and everything seemed to work great. Game starts, menu screens work, but I can't start a new game or load an old one.
My error log reads almost exactly the same as someone earlier in this forum:

I saw the article about allocating more than 2 gigs memory. But I am hesitant to change something like this without knowing what it will do to the rest of my system. Will this change affect anything else about the way my computer behaves?

You need to address the large memory issue with 32bit os. I use 64bit os so I don't have these memory limitations. Read the readme or tutorials about the work around.
