I suppose for gzdoom you can open gzdoom.ini, find strife autoload section and add "Path=path to strifetex.zip". Or make a .bat\.sh file with "-iwad path to strife1.wad -file path to strifetex.zip". Or make a shortcut for gzsoom with the same launching parameters.
I just renamed strifetex.zip to strifetex.pk3. It works fine.
Is there a way to use this without using a launcher like ZDL?
