Report RSS Why Development has slowed to a Crawl

Hi, I'm the co-developer of Stolen Mind, EliteWood1337. It's been a short while, hasn't it.

On August 5th the Head Developer of Stolen Mind, Toashen (who you may know as win_tosh), released a article that was made to clear up a few things. It did, but It's been over 3 months and nothing has been heard since. So I would like to release an article myself. Now, I'm not quite sure what's going on in Toashen and Uplink's personal lives unfortunately as we are going through a very busy part of our lives right now and haven't talked much outside of development, so this will be from my perspective only. Stolen Mind has been in development for 2 years now, but ever since around one and a half-ish years development has been really slow. I have a lot of stuff going on in my personal life right now, and as much as I love Stolen Mind, my grades future prospects are more of a priority right now. Good News for me though is that I won't have to work on Stolen Mind's level design and technical aspect as of now though because Toashen needs to finish his models before we can continue maps. Toashen is working on a bunch of models, and before me and Uplink continue making maps its in everybody's best interest if we wait for all the models to be finished than implement them. The alternative is to continue making all the maps, but than go back to all the maps when Toashen is done and replace a whole bunch of models; sure you all can get some cool screenshots but development would take a lot longer.

So what in the meantime? Well, we have made countless revisions to the story. Out of all of this the good news is that even though development on the mod itself has seemed to slow down, what we previously thought was a good and finished story is receiving revision after revision, and it's quickly molding itself into an original and timeless concept. So yes, we are doing very important things for the mod, just not things that we screenshot or take videos of or publish demos of.

So when should you expect to see Stolen Mind released? I can't say. I previously said last year that we should be looking forward to getting a demo of Stolen Mind in november or december, it never happened and that was the demo. Now this might seem very worrying and if I'm going to be honest yes, I often feel very worried too. It's common to go on Moddb and see a bunch of cool looking mods that you wish you could play; but than you realize they haven't been updated since 2017. I highly believe that this will NOT happen to Stolen Mind however. The Stuckdown Team is determined to get this mod finished. This means that even if we could not physically even finish the mod, we would be more likely to hand it off to some promising new group of developers to finish than to just remove 2 years of our own history. If you couldn't tell, this is a project we do in our free time and we love to do it; it's just as like many other hobbies, it's overshadowed by all the studying we have to do.

Thanks for reading this far, I hope that whoever is reading this has a good day; and hopefully the next time I write an article is when I have good news to bring. I bid you farewell!
