TheIdiot's work on portraits for the Empire so far, only a few missing here. Note that they are still considered WIP as there are some things I want to change about some of them. These will also be used as the basis for unit icons. I haven't added squad markers to the yet as I haven't gotten that far yet. They may also be changed as unit designs are modified as well.

Can you perhaps link me to the Wookieepedia page for the "Imperial Assault Tank" in the units list? That's the only unit I haven't been able to do since I can't figure out what exactly it is - I was thinking it would be an IFT-T hovertank, but the Rebels have that already.
The only other missing unit is the "Spy Probe" - is this an Imperial Probe Droid?
Also, we should be sure our modellers see these so the icons match the units they represent! If I need to change one to match a finished model, that's fine as well.

The spy probe is the droid they send on Hoth at the beginning of the 5th movie.
The assault tank is an advanced version of the separatist AAT : Starwars.wikia.com (or Starwars.wikia.com), because we need some more heavy tank, since the TIE are pretty light.
Excellent work so far ! Your pics match what we want to do. However I would prefer combat engineers and not Death Star technicians (because they don't look to have combat outfit).
I see them as specialized Stormtroopers in demolition, breaching and battlefield defense, with a lighter armament, so they are weaker in combat, but still capable of attacking the enemy. See them more like sappers.
But the only difference with Stormtroopers then, is that they have backpacks, which is difficult to show on this kind of portrait. I guess we'll use the same as for the Stormtroopers...
Gotcha. The spy probe's correct name is the Viper Probe Droid, to ensure we get the names right. :)
Hmm. Is there maybe a different vehicle that can be used for the AAT thing, like something more recognizable? I was thinking the IFT-T could be used in this role and maybe the Rebels could have a different medium tank, since anyone who has played Battlefront II will immediately associate the IFT tank with the Empire. The Rebels could use either the Republic version or something different, like the Combat Speeder:

And okay, I'll try and come up with something other than Death Star technicians...I think Stormtroopers are a bit too heavy duty for such a unit though, especially since they are more of a combat oriented unit. Perhaps this unit could be Navy Troopers:

Alternately, something similar to the Battlefront engineer could be used - basically, a DS tech wearing some sort of light chest armor. We should make sure each unit looks different enough to be easily identifiable - too many Stormtrooper looking units could get confusing, which is why I opted for DS techs.

I'm OK for the IFT to replace the AAT for the Empire... However, that Rebel combat speeder is too lightly armed for its role : Rebels need a fast versatile and powerful tank (which is doctrine only btw) and the IFT was a good solution... We'll need to search further to find another possiblity.
I forgot about AT-AT pilots... They look realy cool and we could have them as it would be nice-looking unit on the battlefield. Nice idea !

What will the difference btw Normal Stormtroopers and Snowtroopers be? :o
Snowtroopers are specially trained to face extreme combat conditions (like arctic climates on frozen worlds). This will result in more experienced soldiers, more resistant to damage and suppression. They will also bring more equipment with them, allowing them to repair vehicles and build their own defenses. ;)
So glad you guys have the Imperial Army Troopers, they're always left out in most Star Wars mods.
I think the DS tech should be on on Turbo laser battery as seen in the movie. Also perhaps an add of heroes such as Boba fett or the emperor... im all for darth vader as well but animation for him would be crazy hard id imagine
I dont think the snowtroopers or sand troopers should be a seperate unit, is there a way to make the stormtroppers adapt to the terrain depending on what level you've chosen?
Emperors gaurd might be a unit to consider
Also i think it would be awesome to have a fleet of tie fighters to sweep the battle field and do straffing runs and/or play an anti air roll.
Aldo orbital strikes would look amazing on coh....and perhaps a star destoyer if zoomed out far enough you could see it perhaps . Mm food for thought

I think we should cut the dark troopers and commando units other wise its too much work. Itll take forever to do the ATAT, ATST. Id rather have really good looking, functional and non glichy units then a vast selection...ATST and ATAT must be perfect,- walking, moving, firing. If you do that, you guys will definetly get mod of the year...also we need star wars terrain and buildings...and objects lol. We cant have stormtroopers putting up sandbags or hidding behind a 1940s ford model.
Can you even fit an AT-AT on a map? lol
