Interesting idea, though instead of one massive landing pad, you have engineers (builder units) make multiple smaller pads for the other units or even have the main base look less like a landing pad and more like a mobile base, like the Terran structures in Starcraft or the F.O.B in halo ( it doesn't have to be Mobile like the English faction). Then instead of other unit build Buildings you have your engineers make a landing zone. Your idea is good to.

I think what Eol is grasping at is the platform which is on Endor in the movie. Which is what it should be based on not our own versions of the Empire.

The idea was actually to not have builders units and only sappers that do the defensive, battlefield construction/demolition job. So you would start with this HQ that drops the basic units, and when you upgrade it to the next tier to unlock new units it also spawns a little expansion building, like a hangar, another smaller landing pad, etc...
We also don't want to have a mobile base as this is already the role of the Alliance, and the Empire must stay static. But we didn't want something too similar to the original wehrmacht gameplay. I think this is a good compromise.
By the way there could be secondary HQs that can only deploy a few units. They could be built everywhere by engineers and look like smaller landing pads. Building these in your base would allow to train troopers more quickly as you've got multiple spawners.

Obviously it's based on this landing pad, and I really like the design of your concept artist's version. I think though, the landing pad area should be a little wider so it goes off the pillars a little more to keep in line with the looks of the Endor landing pad. No matter what you guys choose to go with, you definitely need to have the shuttles be different for different types of units and supplies.

The Tydirium shuttle should be for cargo and hero units. Vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net

And finally the Gozanti class cruiser should be for ATATs and any other larger vehicles or TIE Fighters. Vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net

Another option is just to have the landing pad bring in supplies and maybe hero units on a Tydirium shuttle, and then the different addons around the base can be used to make the vehicles, infantry, and eventually air units.

I'm very excited for this mod and have been looking forward to a good Star Wars mod for Company of Heroes for a while. I hope your team will finish this mod to completion.

I like it. The picture here looks really good and imagining my little landing pad turn into an even cooler looking landing base as it expands when i upgrade it gets me all the more excited to slay some rebel scum.

Sounds like a good idea to me! :D The Dawn of War games do that, where the prefab bases get the units airlifted, and they are set up in the buildings

i like the idea and concept i think you just need to be careful not to have it too large that it blocks the view.

as for added building you could start with the large pad and add smaller pads next to it. like directly on to it. so it slowly get larger but with designated pads for added units. start with sentinal/add lamda/add atst sentinal/add landing barge.

or rather than pads just have the landed shuttles.
but have them all part of a circle so as you upgrade another shuttle lands next to an existing following a radial

Description

Hello there ! Sorry guys but no gameplay pics for now. However here is a little concept of what an Imperial base could look like.
Basically a giant landing pad capable of homing a lambda shuttle (maybe with a landing anim ?) that can expand to unlock new units and vehicles, as depicted by the large hangar and the AT-ST.
I know it's kind of poor but you can tell me what you think about it ;)
