Here is a shot of the City ingame, its just a test shot to see how it would look, and how big it is. Once we got it in, we decided that we need to try and figure a way to make it work 'the way it is suppose to' so that is our current goal.
looks really cool, would love to try it out :D
omg, you are my hero, this looks insanely wicked, keep it up, cant wait for the texture
By "the way it is supposed to work", do you mean oriented vertically with the underside pointing backwards? It would be awesome if you got it right, but I really can't see any of way of making it graceful. Most people view battles from the top (or an angle near the top), so the city-ship would just be a grey line with a few spikes coming out of it. On the other hand, if you kept it as-is, there would be nothing propelling it and it would look very strange.
...but that's just rambling, and I'm sure you'll sort it out. In terms of the actual model, it's great! I can't imagine how long it must have taken you to make it accurate to the TV show.
well, i only see people who are familiar with the franchise downloading it, so i would think people who are playing it would realize that it was the way it was. besides, the city only tips on the vertical when its about to jump into hyperspace. so, when its in a grav well moving around, it would sit horizontal as if it were sitting on a palnet. so all in all, i wouldnt worry about it
What We are going to attempt to do, but right now seems impossible, is have the city tip on its side, so the top would face forward only when jumping into Hyperspace... havent figured out yet how we are going to accomplish that yet... but we have some theories.
how about when it's built originally? going to get it to appear from underneath a planet to try and simulate a take off?
its going to be built from a shipyard, as far as we know its not possible to have a ship built from the planet.
Building Atlantis in a ship yard wont really be that cannon though will it?
Also can i just point out a slight criticsm, from the screenshots, it would appear that the Atlantis flies sideways, when in the series, the engines are on the bottom of the ship, so it flies upwards.
Would be cool if it could lift off from the planet though.
well we are working on a possible way of having it fly both ways. Only cause of at the end of Season 3 and start of Season 4, the city, while in space, flies on its but like that.
Now as for the City being built on the planet, there isnt way to do that, to my knowledge.
Ye im pretty sure there isnt, because youd have to build the shipyard on the planet surface, but the game wont allow you to build anything within the planet's immediate radius. Shame we couldn't reprogram the game to allow surface structures :(
What about making it an ability for the planet that spawns the ship like the TECH carrier's deploy missile turret ability?
In space there is only one direction...up.
awesome O_O
I'm assuming it's going to have a shield?
yes it is, Im working on the texture for the shield, and seeing how it turns out.
omg! its flaoting! coooooooooooool
Very Nice
note: i think that the term Tau'ri is a bit more accurate than human, because it narrows it down to Earth humans, who are also many milky way humans
try messing with the Terran Home planet grav well to exist in the same space as the planet so that you can place a cap ship factory in the planet
