Hello guys and aliens alike!
This is Thibault Testart, ModDB/IndieDB Website editor. Basically, I recently published a news on this page for moderation reasons. I had to remove and transfer the 0.6 download link to this page (the official page of this modification). If you want to know why I had to do something like this, feel free to read it by clicking here.
Step #1 - Requirements
Before installing this modification, you ensure that you have installed the patch 1.1 for Homeworld2. Without this patch, it won't work at all. How to verify that you have installed this patch ? You only need to launch the basic Homeworld2 (without mods) and verify that it is written 1.1 on the main menu. You can find the official patch easily by using Google.
Step #2 - Installation
The installation of this modification is not that simple, mostly because the whole code is completely insane. Why are these files divided ? Well, mostly for customization reasons. Anyway, let's describe how it works.
Step #3 - Extraction
Once the file "Warlords_0.6.zip" is downloaded, you have to open it with the software of your choice (such as Winrar, Winzip, Unzip and so on...). Then, you can notice one single folder. You have to open it and, at that moment, you will be able to see the required files to play the modifications. You have to make sure that you can see the same files as the ones I have:
Once you have the required files, you need to extract the latter ones into the Data folder of Homeworld2, which should be located by default into the Sierra folder (Program files).
Step #4 - Create a shortcut & Edit it
Now that the files are extracted and available in the Data folder of Homeworld2, you have to create a new shortcut of "Homeworld2.exe", which can be found in the Release folder, located in the Bin folder. You should add your shortcut on your desktop, it would be easier for you to play the mod.
Okay, so it is the most difficult step now because one single error will break the whole mod if you don't do it properly so, please, listen carefully to what I gonna say:
Right click on the shortcut you recently created and select "Properties".
Once in the "Properties" tab, you can see something called "Target", which refers actually to the location of Homeworld2.exe. You have to click on it, and at the end of the target, just after the "XXX/Homeworld2.exe", add a space (backspace) BEFORE adding the following line:
-mod PLANETPACK.Big,SWSOUND.Big,SWMUSIC.Big,GENHODS.Big,SHIPHODS.Big,CORE.Big -luatrace -hardwareCursor -w 1920 -h 1080
CAUTION: The end represents your resolution. You have to edit it and add a different resolution if different, of course.
Therefore, you will have exactly the following target: XXX\Sierra\Homeworld2.exe" -mod PLANETPACK.Big,SWSOUND.Big,SWMUSIC.Big,GENHODS.Big,SHIPHODS.Big,CORE.Big -luatrace -hardwareCursor -w XXXX -h YYYY
XXXX & YYYY represents your resolution.
XXXX represents the width and YYYY represents the height.
That's all! Now you can launch the game and play the modification at the same time.
If that doesn't work, feel free to send me a private message or submit a comment below. However, I'm not the developer of this modification neither a watcher, just a ModDB/IndieDB Website editor, helping the community, so I won't check everyday this tutorial. This is the reason why it should be better for you to contact me via PM.

What thing is deleted ? Because if you're talking about this tutorial, this one is still available actually ;)
nah, i had an issue, thought better about it, and fixed it with the help from a friend haha.
i got it to work, i just needed to do a clean install
Hi dude the last bit is complicated os there a video tutorial ?
They sure did choose a curious way to package the mod
-luatrace is not strictly necessary, it just tells the game to log scripting errors to a text file for debugging purposes.
-hardware cursor is only necessary as a compatibility fix for some systems
Hardwarecursor is a code needed on (almost) each OS as far as I know so that you can have a cursor which fits to your resolution, not to your system.
I'm using a iMac to mod on HW2 (Phoenix Interactive mods such as Stargate Space Conflict, Mass Effect Reborn, Battlestar Galactica Fleet commander) and to play others like Star Trek : Continuum, Halo Homefront or Star Wars Warlords... And I need to add this code nor I have an awful 800x600 cursor type.
That being said, you're right on the "- luatrace" code... unless you play with the "Oldships.big" which seems to break the log configuration. This is the reason why they said that this .big is not recommended.
i have done everything you have just said to do and i load it up fine, right resolution, but then when i try and do a game against the cpu it ll start loading and then just stop and close, does anyone know how to fix this?
Maybe your problem is this. You must create a new player profile, if you try to play it with your original HW2 profile, the mod will crash.
I have just reinstalled the game and the mod, and then tried making a new player profile but it still crashes
I have the same problem as kandeece
I am having a problem locating the mod once in the game. I installed the mod as directed above and created a new profile. When I go to start a cpu vs player no crashes but unable to access any of the SW mods. Please help. Thanks.
Got the game to run with the SW mod but now I am also having the same problem as kandeece and joriuss84
Sorry for commenting so much. The load seems to fail every time when the program tries to load the "universe". Not sure what this means. Any guesses?
it doenst work :/ could you make a videotutorial or something like this?

is they a way to put OLDSHIP.big without the mod launcher? cause adding inside the properties is not working
I have had a lot of trouble getting this mod to work, I've found that enabling all permissions for the homeworld2 folder fixes some of the problems I'm still unable to start any game with empire selected, the game has also crashed whenever I've tried to move around snub fighters when playing as either republic or militia
After further testing I found that it crashes when moving cruisers in Alliance, Republic and Militia. If anyone has any solutions I'd love the hear

Is it now possible to use this mod with the remastered version? Tried to set it up like this to no avail.

Will this work with version 1.28 thats part of the Steam collection, or does it HAVE to be 1.1?
I think 1.1 is only supported. If you tried loading up with 1.28 it will crash when starting a player vs cpu.

I play file Star Wars Warlords SP TEST.exe it play well, but I run Star Wars Warlords.exe and play with cpu, it load to Universe then crash.
I had the same problem, and I solved it by changing the starting units for the empire, it must NOT be reinforcements
