Star Wars Total war is the most Creative use in a mod I have known for the rome total war engine. it departs from the mainstay of RTW vannila's melee battles in a mesh of units that dont move to ranged units that have to constantly jostle and reposition to effciently attack the enemy. each faction has a unique play style instead of greeks have phalenxes and romans have legions. to win a battle you need to think from when you start about how you deploy your units to where and when to try to rout the enemy from. you want to feel like your playing a differnt game with the rome total war engine download this mod, want a experience just vaguely dissimilar to vanillia RTW go elsewhere. simple as that.

You could use some sort of star wars civilian model. Even some jedi robes could do.

Yes, but we're not going to change stuff based on what you want. We don't care if you don't like the size of the Death Star I and thinks it should be removed.

I removed your comment because i disagreed with you.

Dagovax didn't add it for it to be removed.

As for the civilians I can't do that as i am not a modeller, Dagovax is - I do mostly text-based modding.

Edit:

There is nothing stopping you from removing the Death Star I yourself after the release.

But we are never gonna remove such a cool and unique unit because someone thinks it's too small.

Others may love it because it's an OP unit.

2nd Edit:

To put it into perspective.

Rigging the model - takes a couple of hours.

Making custom animations for the model - takes a lot of time too.

Making unique projectiles for the model - takes time and effort.

Coding it all into the game-files takes effort and time.

Adding custom sound and voices - takes time and effort.

After all that, if you were Dagovax, would you remove the unit because one dude thinks it should be removed due to being smaller than in lore?

I don't think anyone would, not after all that modding work it took to add it man.

It's not a fast matter but required a lot of work from a modeller/animator.

You don't have to tell me how modding works. I was responsible for Star Wars Conquest (the most famous SW mod of all time). Maybe you should listen and plan your mod better instead of wasting time in ideas which make the total conversion look worse than it could. I'm not "one dude". I am "the dude". Not only I was a modder, but I also run one of the biggest SW gaming channels and I'm following every relevant SW mod out there. You don't like constructive criticism? Then stop sending me your mod. I'm not gonna record a mod with unarmed stormtroopers being used as civilians.

This is very simple. The Deathstar looks specially out of place. I'm sorry. I would prefer things being different but they are not, and I gave you several ideas. That same effort could have been used in properly implementing civilians. Make a list of what you can make look good, and then prioritise what is easy to do.

I know the game has its limitations, but if this is the case, then acknowledge those limitations and stop investing time in units that shouldn't be making it into the mod. It is not that the deathstar is slightly smaller. It is in fact ridiculously smaller and looks like a globe.

You are already stretching this by introducing air units but I can understand that. X-wings, tie fighters... even destroyers. But those destroyers should be your limit. If it depended on me I would even get rid of destroyers and add a proper size for smaller ships. It is better to have less looking great, than having more looking shabby. That's the difference between Warsword Conquest and The Old Realms for example. Both warhammer mods for the Mount and Blade game series. Warsword just puts together a lot of stuff but is far from being polished. They don't even get the map of the universe right and place factions in the wrong place. The Old Realms in the other hand includes less content, but it all so perfectly done it even looks like a professional game. This doesn't have to do with having more or less modelers. It has to do with stablishing accomplishable goals and being meticulous.

Know I still insist on this because I believe in your skills and I want the community to enjoy a SW Total War. Know that the more time I spend here writing, the less time I'm working on Youtube and therefore I'm loosing money.

Just ask yourself this:
Do you want to have fun modding? Perhaps enjoy the development and release somth people will play for a couple of hours?
or
Really give the community a product worthy of their time? A mod where they might want to invest for entire campaigns.

Rome TW might be an old game, but I see in this mod enough potential for it to be taken a little bit more seriously. Once again: It is all about decisions.

Ah, so you're one of the Youtubers I mailed?

We actually had a bigger Deathstar in early 2020 so that's possible. Let's see how the mod does as I've just released it.

It's just that we're not likely to remove anything, making it bigger would be way more likely - but I'm not the modeller in the team so I can't do that.

I would agree with you that bigger is better but I still think a smaller one is better than none at all.

You are free to show-off the mod if YOU want to.

I don't have anything against you man. I do have something against people demanding the removal of stuff but I can see where you're coming from.

Ah, Star Wars Conquest for Mount and Blade?

As for the civilians both the Rebel Alliance and the Empire are using the same culture - which means they do share civilians. I wanted Storm Troopers but yeah that doesn't look good for the Rebels lol.

It's too bad both are Romans.

The Galactic Empire is using the Julii-family and the Rebel Alliance the Brutii-family.

My original plan was to have five unique civilians for each but it's not possible when they are both Roman houses. And I just didn't want to see droids or aliens over Storm Troopers.

Dagovax Sirrianus is the guy who rigged all the models for the game and made the map and the animations - not me.

So I can't do that stuff and he may not want to do it since Remastered has released so the old game is kind of more difficult to mod compared to it so chances are this will be the final release on RTW Alexander. Maybe if it's popular it will be ported.

So I didn't do all that crazy modding work, however I did code the mod from the last release into this version after Dagovax made the map and the stratmodels for the Empire and the Planets.

So I have been doing coding and 2d-art creation and some other stuff in order to update the WIP I sat on which had a finished map created by Dagovax but with nothing placed out on it except the planets and some recruitment that I redid entirely.

So for the last two weeks I've been making that WIP playable.

Remember the old game Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds? It had a cheat-code where you could get the Deathstar.. This is similar to it in a way. It's ridiculously powerful but it can be killed.

Dagovax could do what you want but he said he is done with the old engine. So this is a last ditch effort by me to get a campaign out or the mod would be left for dead by this point. So my goal here was to release a campaign with everything done in 2020/2021 - but the mod is pretty much abandoned.

Hopefully it will have a future in the new game engine if it's ever ported there. Dagovax Sirrianus is also busy with Total War: 1942 - his WW2 based mod - and he also ported the old Lord of the Rings mod there.

Maybe if this gets ported he will develop it further - I myself am a more limited modder as I am very good in certain areas but have no skills in others.

In most mods I've modded others have done the bits I could not, and I have spent a huge amount of time doing what I can - coding, cards, writing etc.

This product is a lot more professional compared to the old 2008/2009 releases so we're pretty proud of it. It did take Star Wars TW and make it "more worthy". And I still think siskinEDGE did a great job - I'm just saying that this is a professional mod for RTW in terms of everything new that it brings. It is true however that this mod was never finished unlike other mods. It could have been taken way further if there were enough interest still.

Yeah, I wish this mod had been developing 10 years ago, instead of now when the Remastered game came.. But if we're lucky development can continue there.

I am sorry, but this seems like the rant of someone with an obsession rather than a suggestion.
I think we should all aknowledge two things: 1) modding takes insane effort for no profit, so leisure of the creators should be a top priority 2) it is better to have a goofy death star than no death star at all, because RTW is very simplistic in nature, there is no other mechanic or script that can simulate the death star properly. Maybe an overhaul of agents could technically come closer to Death Star, but I am 100% sure that would end up looking goofy nonetheless.
I worked on several mods too and as a modder I don't like when people expect professionalism and insane polish from a basement dwellers spare-2-hours-after-job-slash-school hobby.
It is totally out of place, like expecting master chef dishes from your grandma's kitchen.

Description

I've replaced the vanilla Roman civilians shared between all three factions (The Neutrals, the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance) with new Star Wars models.

Unfortunately both the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire are Roman houses.. So they did share civilians in the game, as such I couldn't add unique ones to both.

Instead I just added Storm Troopers and Snow Troopers as eye candy when checking out cities.. The civilians don't play a role in the mod except when you check out your cities during peace-time - I just didn't want to replace the Storm Troopers with neutrals.

It makes sense that the Empire has troops everywhere like in the movies, and they're just eye candy anyway - better than having vanilla Romans there.
