Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. Begun, a new conflict has.
The first Mon Calamari design larger than a standard cruiser since the HomeOne subclass, the multi-kilometer long Mediator class Battlecruiser set multiple records when constructed. It was the largest vessel ever constructed at Mon Cala (only to be surpassed by the later Viscount class), the first Mon Calamari vessel to not use a numeric designation (like MC80), and the first battlecruiser class vessel produced for the New Republic navy.
Compared to other Mon Calamari designs, the Mediator introduced a significantly reinforced hull; a paradigm shift away form relying on the redundant shield generators used by most other Mon Calamari vessels. Designed to withstand a Baradium warhead going off in the middle of its large hangar bay, the Mediator could soak up an incredible amount of punishment that might otherwise be directed at its attendant battle group.
In the mod, the Mediator serves as the early game New Republic titan, and is of similar strength to the vanilla titan and the Empire's Bellator. It most resembles the Ankylon titan with its heavy emphasis on defense, but with better starfighter support.
why is it green?
It's blue, just partly reflecting the green skybox.
hmm well ok ive got to wonder the new factions titans are all more powerful then the vanilla ones right? doesnt that put the vanilla at an extreme disadvantage?
Only the Executor is flat out more powerful than the Vanilla titans. Home One and Bellator seem to be more on equal terms with them.
home one i found struggled against the vanila trader ones at least. and the advent rebel one has horrific range
The stats of the Mediator haven't been determined yet, but we are intending to balance it around the vanilla factions titans strength wise, as the Bellator was. We may make it slight stronger and more expensive, but it should be comparable.
The Executor and New Republic Viscount are the special super titans that are more powerful (at least stat wise), but are much more expensive, use more fleet supply and require extra late game research.
That said, most vanilla titans actually do have one important advantage over Star Wars ones. Star Wars weapon systems don't tend to lend themselves to large devastating Area of Effect (AoE) damage. Most Sins titans have abilities like this, which lets them be a threat even to large fleets. Only Darth Vader's Force Crush really does anything like what the Eradica or Ragnarov can do to fleets.
Star Wars titans tend to focus on fleet buffs/debuffs instead, which are quite powerful but do not have quite the same instant impact against an unprepared fleet.
Well.. that's until the super special awesome titan Eclipse comes along right? who combines essentially all round Executor with a Ragnarov type role with it's super laser? xP
Early game New Republic titan...? Am I getting a force vision of a Viscount exiting hyperspace in the near future...?
The Viscount was stated from day one it's not much of a surprise lol
You know I completely forgot about the Mediator...
Sweet
Man, I was really hoping the NR would get Strident as the early titan, but I can live with this.
Strident suffers from a real lack of information, even its size and style are unknown. Mediator isn't much better but it had somewhat more to go on.
Loving it. Definitely has the aquatic feel to it like Mon Cal tech should.
