Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. Begun, a new conflict has.
The pace of Interregnum 3.1's graphic updates continues at an impressive rate. One of the best additions will be a new Gladiator Star Destroyer model by Jeroenimo. Based on the Gladiator's more recent designs, it features 6 dual turbolaser turret and three hangar openings, and just more detail all around. As one of the first Star Destroyers from the Expanded Universe as well as one of the most influential (The Harrower Dreadnaught from The Old Republic borrows much of its design from the Gladiator), hopefully the Gladiator will now get the respect it deserves.
I thought this model looked familiar... I'm really, Really glad you are using Jeroenimo's models.
We thank Jeroenimo for allowing us the use of his mesh as it is definitely the best example of a Gladiator out there. For those who are unaware of his work, check out his Old Republic at War and Empire At War:Re Mods for Empire At War: Forces of Corruption here on Moddb.
What do you mean by "more recent designs" ? I don't remember the basic Gladiator model ever being changed in SW.
The original Gladiator Star Destroyer was the Demolisher from the 80s cartoon series Droids. It is thus probably the third Star Destroyer ever created, only behind the Imperial and Executor Star Destroyers. Our old model was based on it. Holowriting.files.wordpress.com
In the mid 2000s though, the source book Starships of the Galaxy contained an article on the Gladiator. It was the first time we got the class name for this ship (fans just used to call it the Demolisher class after the only known vessel), and it updated the appearance of the Gladiator to be basically what you see in front of you. This version was used by The Forced Unleashed II and recently the Star Wars Armada tabletop game. Img4.wikia.nocookie.net
