Wondering if I did something wrong, but I don't think so :

I tried the "battle at mon calamari", the 1st campaign mission on the alliance side. So the objective is just that Mon Calamari survives but it doesn't seem possible to have it as a map objective, ok... then choosing a faction, so I took the new republic then since we are supposed to play on this side (otherwise it's random).

But then when you start the mission the empire fleet is impressive, but it has no planets ! Which means that if the planet doesn't fall in the 1st minutes, they are doomed, because the longer the mission lasts, the more reinforcements you can bring, and they can bring nothing, and can't even retreat. I thought that maybe I forgot to select explictely a faction for the 2nd faction on the map, but no, you can't select the "dark empire" here. So this map is really supposed to be played this way then ? It was impressive anyway, but it was quite surprising !

And yeah really too bad that sins hadn't a real campaign...

I guess that if the enemy fleet at mon calamari is entierly destroyed then you can quit because you have accomplished what you were supposed to do on this map then...

Hello Zelurker,

While the attacking fleet at Mon Cala is impressive, that is only the initial attack. The main objective for the mission is to take Byss in the deep core, where the full Dark Empire faction lurks. Rest assured, they have a lot of planets.

Also, you can actually lose Mon Cala, it just makes the mission harder if you lose your unique stuff there. Your actual Homeworld is a moon as it was in the original Dark Empire comic. That planet should have a mission marker that will explain all the objectives for the campaign mission.

Found the capital moon, it seems to be called "Pinnacle Moon", it says "Capital", but not your so-called "mission marker" ? Yeah briefings are really missing here. So even though the factions of the attacking fleet at Mon Cala and the one owning the enemy planets here are different we still must defeat everything ? Which makes this one a very long misson in this case ! I played the defense of Mon Calamari twice here already, the 2nd time mostfly for fun, but attacking the other planets would be much harder indeed... ok, I'll have a look at that then !

By the way congratulations for the impressive quality work, I didn't know the comics for star wars were so rich in information about the fleets, quite a surprise ! And even the music arrangements feel like you are in a movie, really amazing !

edit : finally found it, some small weird structure called "mission briefing", here for that only apparently... you know a text file would have been as good as this, or maybe better because easier to find ! Anyway... ! :) Ok, finished a 3rd time the defense, I saved and will do the attack on the planets later then, thanks for the info !

Yeah, it is a bit awkward. Unfortunately Sins doesn't give us the ability to play a movie or something at map start. So the text and voice on that mission marker was the best we could do. We didn't want to rely on a text file as we'd know a lot of people wouldn't read it.

Fun fact, the attack force is a different (non-regular AI) faction because we found that just giving it to the enemy AI player on that map had the AI retreating the Mon Cala attack fleet. Having a technically separate militia faction own the fleet ensured they would attack Mon Cala with everything they have and not retreat.

Well there is something called "ultimate campaign" here in moddb which used something a little extreme for the briefings : 1 mod and 1 savegame / mission, and then the briefing is in the game's intro video ! At least it's impressive to see, even if maybe it's a little overkill... !
