What will more than likely happen is animation will be put in place, and a default attack range of less than a meter will be put in place. Another thing that may be done if FORCE powers which allows offensive capability. And there is allot possible its something great and amazing. Another thing that would be awesome which i dont think is possible is troops to fire on the move but that would be a great improvement to the game overall.
Think of all the cool force powers you could add. You basically make a weapon model, place it, and make it see through, an innimation and sound file, followed by stats... imagine making a unit with force powers capable of taking down walls buildings.
This can be actually fixed.. You create a new firing animation so that the character does a slice and then you to the range of the weapon defined by a set file. In this set file is this line {aimRange 45} ; m.. From there you would have functioning knife basically. Which i dont think any mod has ever done for this game. Its always a throwing weapon.
