Expanding Fronts is a massive modification for Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds aimed to breathe life back into the classic LucasArts strategy game by adding various new units, features, and gameplay elements. Each of the 8 civilizations are being reworked and enhanced to make each feel more unique and authentic to the universe, while maintaining the classic Battlegrounds gameplay. In addition, the Scenario Editor is being filled with hundreds of new units, buildings, effects, triggers, and objects to allow campaign and scenario designers more freedom than ever before.
Is there a Rose Tico unit who's only ability is sabotaging heroic sacrifices?
We have no plans to start using the mod as a vessel for complaints.
We Have altered the deal, pray we don't alter it any further.

What are you gonna do about it, not download the mod? Oh, the horror.
Ha! I like that. And I love this mod, you've put a lot of effort into it, I commend you.
Finn's "sacrifice" wouldn't have changed anything. She stopped him from throwing away his life for nothing and spared the Resistance the loss of one of its much-needed heroes.
She "stopped" him from "throwing away his life" by ******* CRASHING INTO HIM. IN AN AIRSPEEDER. AT HIGH SPEED. That's an action that would be very, very likely to kill one or both parties involved, were it not for their plot armor.
Imagine if to "stop" a friend from sacrificing themselves, you crashed your car into their car at 100+ mph and expected nobody to die from it. Pretty stupid plan, right?
It was an absolutely stupid, stupid scene that followed a 12 year old's understanding of actions and consequences.
If that friend in your example was also ignoring your pleas to stop and hung up on you, you would also grow desperate and attempt something foolish to stop them from killing themselves at your own expense.
She didn't have a choice since he had shut off his comm and was dead set on crashing. She therefore chose a scenario where he had SOME chance of surviving as opposed to one where he had NONE. She didn't care about her own survival because in her eyes, unlike Finn, she was expendable. It's not any less of a believable scene than everything else that the saga had done prior to this movie, including a 9-year-old winning a deadly race that he had never even finished prior to the events of the movie just because an old dude he had barely met two days before told him to "trust his instincts".
What WOULD have been stupid is to allow him to kill himself in a kamikaze run that wouldn't have changed a single thing about the Resistance's desperate situation, to say nothing about it being a stupid end for his character arc throughout both movies where he grows from being a cowardly deserter to protecting someone other than himself and finally fighting for a cause he actually believes in.
But let's say for a minute that it would have succeeded and that Finn's run would have damaged the cannon enough to stop it from firing (which was impossible considering the pitiful state of the speeders as established by Poe ripping off a panel from his by accident):
- They would still be stuck inside a base they couldn't escape from because they didn't have the fuel to leave the system;
- Even if they did and attempted to leave the base, the rest of the First Order strike force right at their gate would have shot them down as soon as the gates opened;
- There is nothing in the movie that says that the First Order didn't have another siege cannon on standby that they could deploy and start the whole thing all over again, and this time, the Resistance would have been unable to defend themselves.
Therefore, while his heart was in the right place, Finn would have thrown his life away for nothing and Rose stopped the Resistance from losing one of its heroes in a time when they desperately needed them.
I rest my case.
How are you balancing all those new units? Or are you going to make the Ski Speeders exclusive to the recreation of the Battle of Crait? And what about the red sand effect? Is it going to be applied to all ground units on Crait terrain?
The Ski Speeder is the unique Fortress unit of the Resistance. All non-hovering units on Crait will feature the red, longer-lasting footprints and trails.
Cool! Not sure about the Ski Speeder being an unique unit, though: not only is it actually Rebel Alliance tech, but in The Last Jedi, they are shown to be completely obsolete and ineffective. The StarFortress would be a better choice, in my opinion.
There were a handful of options, but we ultimately decided that the StarFortress wouldn't make for a suitable unique unit, being too similar to the Air Cruiser in role and function. The Ski Speeder gave us some wiggle room to make a more unique unit that we felt best suited our intended playstyle for the Resistance.
I see. Is the Resistance's Air Cruiser going to look like the StarFortress, then?
Most likely, though we will probably replace the bomb bay with a more fitting cannon-type weapon.
A Mumbai? :P
Since the Sky Speeder is going to be an unique unit maybe you can retexture it so it doesnt look stripped down as it is in the movie.
The model we're using is more sturdier-looking than the ones in the movie.
Interesting, which unit will take role of Mech Destroyer and Assault Mech?
Most of the RS vehicle roster will be based on unused concept art from the various Art of Star Wars books.
Is this stuff in the current version?
Fantastic!
