The mod is starting to shape up a little.
Hello, I'm The Wildcat. You may know me from BWL or the Cat-Life mod. I'm now acting Press Corps for Special Forces: Source. And I'll be trying to bring you occasional updates of this mod as well as cleaning up some of the existing pages dedicated to it.
To begin this entry, though, allow me to explain some of the finer details of what we hope this mod will become.
In the Staff forum, the existing team has started planning some of the Mod's concepts. For instance, the team is planning to include at least 19 maps. Maps already planned range from power plants and industrial compounds to public buildings to bridges and airports.
The mod is also planned to include a host of new weapons. They include a choice in mele weapons such as a knife or bat; Side-arms such as the Walther P77; Assualt Rifles such as the H&K G3 and CGA5
with Colt M203 grenade launcher; Sniper Weapons including the Barrett M82A1 and Accuracy International L96A1 AW; explosives including standard hand grenades, remote bombs, and the MGL 40 MK-1 grenade launcher.
Equipment such as Light, Medium, and Heavy body armor would be accented with a selection of matching helmets and police/riot shields.
There are also plans for a host of gadges and other goodies that can only be obtained by completeing sub-missions within each round.
Gameplay would feature a system called "Team Operations Build Plan" which would allow players to establish a defensive perimeter before each round begans. Defensive weapons, traps, and barricades could be constructed during the pre-mission time. And an full map will be available for study.
Teams will be handled a little differently as well. One team will represent the Special Forces Unit (which has yet to be named, we will have a community poll at a later time). Another team will represent the private militia/terrorists. And the third team isn't really a team at all. They are indipendent players that can choose to help either team or make target them both.
A few screenshots and some concept work should be available soon. So check back from time to time.
At the moment, the team has grown to four members. We need more. If you are interested in getting in on the ground floor of a new mod, feel free to join. Currently, the team is looking for help in every aspect of development, even the ones we already have members for.
Mappers, 3D artists, Concept Artists, Coders, Music and Voice Talent. You name it, we want more of it. The teams goal is to build a fairly large development team to help expidite the process and assure quality works.
If you are interested in joining the project, PM the team or contact Army of One/OneKiller at legend017@yahoo.com
Thanks for your support and interest in this mod project. With Community help, this could be a wonderful game experiance.
i like the idea of the third army on thier own and choosing which side (if any) to fight for
i have to say one thing that put me off reading this was it looks very long so i didnt read it earlier
Unfortunately, there was a large amount of data that needed to be redefined in this one entry. Several ideas were modified and the explinations were not as clear in previous news.
Future news updates won't carry as much bulk.
