SotS Header What is SotS

Song of the Sea is a siren-themed small-DLC sized expansion for the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Engage in a character-driven, lore-firendly questline featuring new locations and new worldspaces to uncover the mystery and power behind the sirens of the Sea of Ghosts.

Gain the ability to become a siren yourself - will you choose to be a nature-loving mermaid, a hardened siren warrior, a powerful hydromancer, a deadly and seductive siren, or anything in-between?

SotS Header Progress

The past few months have been extremely busy for me so I haven't been able to make as much progress as I had hoped, but that doesn't mean there haven't been some exciting new developments!

I recently had an interview with Joe Donnelly from GamesRadar.com, discussing how I came up with the ideas for this mod, what's motivating me to keep working at it, and more. You can check out the full article here!

Skyrim Anniversary Edition update

Bethesda was nice enough to give all Skyrim Special edition owners a free update including new content with the Anniversary edition update, but unfortunately this update also breaks a lot of things on the modding community side. Oh, no!
Fortunately, Song of the Sea is not directly impacted by this and development can proceed without issue. The only effect this has had on development is that the framework mod that was being used for the custom skill tree, Custom Skills Framework, depends on the widely-used .NET Script Framwork. Unfortunately, .NET Script Framework does not work with Skyrim Anniversary Edition and looks like it might never be updated, so an alternative leveling notification system and perk tree will need to be developed. This is a bit of a downer but it does mean that the mod will have less requirements to install and use while still being able to work for both Skyrim SE and AE.
Speaking of the AE update, the current build of Song of the Sea has been updated to (optionally) work with the now-vanilla Survival mode! The slow-down effects from being cold originally conflicted with the speed effects from being in siren form, making permanent base movement speed changes that built up over time. This is no longer the case. Additionally, being in siren form now makes you immune to the freezing water effect, allowing you to freely explore the Sea of Ghosts and other frigid locations as a siren.

New team members

There is still plenty of work to do and Song of the Sea can always use new team members! We're looking for motivated 3D modellers, animators, voice actors, worldspace and cell designers, and more. Please contact lDelta6l if you are interested in joining the team. Not only will you get access to in-development builds of the mod, contributing to a project like this can look great on your resume! The more people we have on the team, the faster it will be completed and the more high-quality content we can pack into it!
Two new members have joined the project in the past month:

  • Professional voice-over actress Dawn Upfold has joined to provide voice acting for the quest and character(s)!
  • 3D modeller and animator KnightofNeverwinter, author of Melusine - A Merfolk Race Mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Sea Serpent Mermaid Tail for The Sims 4 has joined the team. He is currently working on the new siren body/tail that will be distributed with the mod as well as possibly importing other models to allow for variety and player choice in choosing how they want their siren tail to look. Here are some early previews of his work-in-progress model:

That's all for now. If you are interested in this mod, be sure to check out the main mod page and previous articles for a more information, a general overview, a preview of the epic underwater player home, Siren's Rest, and ways you can support and contribute to the mod!
