As anyone who's been keeping an eye on us knows, we've pretty much been focusing on getting every model we need for a first release. This has not changed.
What has changed is this. Originally we thought the first release should have a race where the loyalist is inner sphere and the rebel was clan just to have something complete. Well, it's been decided that it's a bit much to take on, so we are doing just the inner sphere to start.
Prolly the most fluctuating part of this mod so far has been the ship selection. We ditched the Centurion for the Cheetah aerospace fighter, and I have moved frigates, cruisers, and warships around at least three or four times. The moment I finish this news report, I am going back to the list to make what SHOULD be the final adjustments. We've knocked out all the structures we've had in mind except the Bastion starbase. Currently that is on hold, as I redirected Crandaddy's efforts to starting the warships. As I type this, he's got a decent New Sytris Carrier going on while blaring Tool really loud a couple feet from me. Or some form of metal/rock. He's also not responding when I talk to him so it's safe to say he's wired in at the moment.
We have acquired all the weapon sound effects, taken from Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries, and I'm reading through my novels in my spare time to find quotes to use for ship voice acting.
Other then that, I keep passing Froydoy one or two ships at a time, and he emails them back to me pretty quickly. He's been the most productive of us so far which is funny to me, cause he's the only one that i have to email back and forth with.
Oh I want to add that it really has made us grin to see people support the project and the idea behind it. 22 Watchers doesn't sound like much compared to Third Age: Total War and Golden Eye: Source, but we appreciate that there are some people out there that have faith in this mod. Hopefully we won't let ya down with our final product.
That's about all I can think of to say...this month our goal is to knock out most if not all of the remaining models before we start figuring out how the hell we texture them. Assuming that is the next proper step. We'll figure it out eventually :D
If anyone's got any ideas for gameplay elements, feel free to post them here or email us at sinsoftheinnersphere@gmail.com, we're open to any suggestions that will lead to making more people happy with what we're working on here.
For Voice Acting you could maybe use some of the sound clips from the Mech Commander Games? Just an Idea :)
certainly a possibility, I will have to dig around and see what is there.
You could also look through other older mech game cutscenes (mw2, mw3)and such, they might contain something useful. Youtube might have some or you could always acquire them and play through.. :D Mech Commanders are good source too as Velisx said.
Thought about getting audio from the battletech cartoon, but we're undecided on that due to the cheese factor.
