There was one more version of serpentine that was half-official but one of the original team members either continued it or gave permission I believe. My memory is vague on the details, but it was up for download on their website, called serpentine9. I did in the end like it more than 8 even though it was discontinued. The mp4 was revamped with new sounds/damage system.
I don't know if anyone still has it but I used to host a server with it. Nobody cared enough about it.
