Shortly after the citadel exploded, Gordon's train was teleported to a beach in which was farther away from white forest than he anticipated. He makes his way through the coastline, caves, and outlands to destroy a combine weapon capable of destroying the rocket in white forest.

Nice job! I always thought Half-Life 2 needed more smoke and particle effects in combat.

Well if you really want smoke and particle effects then you will love this mod. I have tons of custom effects that I made in the particle editor!

What about an occasional smoke effect rising from where you shot an npc? Hard to code, yes, but would make for a good effect.

Well the only problem with that is parenting the particle effect TO the npc, I've yet to find this out. Because if i CAN find this out, then the epic head shot blood squirt would work! I got the particle effect to spawn out of a combines "eye" bone, but it will not follow it, any one know how to do so?

I'm no coder, but, take a look at some of the code from SMOD: Redux code. They have a spurting blood effect that follows the wound that caused death.
Hope this helped.

Description

After the main smoke impact effect, smoke comes out of the bullet impact hole for a few seconds, creating a pretty dramatic effect!
