the first celtic leather based armor
Looks like some linothorax made out of leather and not linen but less functional without metal plates
They used it like this or they had some armor on it?
The armor is based on the Glauberg statue: Static.webshopapp.com
We went for leather as most of the artist interpretation of this armor, I don't know how it compares to linen but it still should offer decent protection against slashes/cuts but not do much to protect you from piecing attacks (spears and javelins). "Leather corselets" are sometimes mentioned or at least interpreted as being so. It fills the gap we have between light and heavy armor for the celts in the mod which is very welcome in terms of balance.
I guess with some padding it could work, like some cuir bouilli
well armor should have at least 3 leather layers and it is possibile that it have any kind of other layer before the leather with i believe by itself should hold quite well
People know that leather isn't that good but a boiled leather is also underestimated, i think the armor they used with leather was not JUST leather but boiled leather which is so tough that it is actually a good armor.
Boiled leather or "waxed" similar to the treatment given to linen armors to stiffen them up would make sense as a couple of layers of linen covered with bee wax is surprisingly resilient.
If we're talking about medieval times (we're not... but now we are) boiled leather was used in lamellar constructions all around Asia, but it was rarely ever seen in Europe. When it was it was for tournament gear mostly. It could also be seen in vambraces, shin protection and similar stuff, rarely. Haven't got a single source to point for a leather chestpiece
That's very shiny for leather ?
i think leather shining is ok comparing to the real pieces of todays artists

Between releases, do you have any textures or new items etc. released as OSP somewhere? Very beautiful work so far, love the attention to detail and accuracy historically!
Not really but Rgcotl and Gothic Knight created a couple of OSP items before creating the mod:
Forums.taleworlds.com
Mbrepository.com
Forums.taleworlds.com
Some are still in use in the mod but a good part of it was updated or replaced.
Thank you! I was thinking of easing the wait with new items haha, seeing all the previews. Even though I realize it does not make much sense to you perhaps.
Aw my this looks amazing
Is this ingame right now?
It just looks so gorgeous!
